Marie gave me an excellent curly haircut and talked with me at length about styling questions I had and different techniques and products to try as I work on figuring out how to embrace my curls (I've been straightening for years). Marie is relocating to her own salon the week of Nov 1 2010. She can be reached at 360.909.1188 and it is just a couple blocks away.
I'm new to the area and needed a haircut. I have extremely curly hair (and I love it). I have no intention of getting a Brazilian blowout, and Marie knew that. She gave me a GREAT haircut and explained what she was doing the whole time. She understood that my hair is very elastic and only took off about an inch of length, which I appreciated. She layered the top and actually styled it how I would normally, which is rare. :D She is moving to her own salon next week, and I will continue to go to her. Loved it!!
I am so happy with the way Marie did my hair I have been telling everyone. She is an expert with the texture of my hair and she is awesome with color
Marie did an amazing job with my hair! I have very curly hair and I often get frustrated that there isn't much I can do by way of different styles. Marie gave me a GREAT haircut and we got rid of a lot of hair. I absolutely love the cut and she did a great job on the color. I would definitely go back and I will be recommending all of my curly haired friends to go and see her!
I had been going to the same stylist for so many years, I had heard about Marie and that she was really good with curly hair and decided to give her a try. She was amazing, she was confident about what she was doing. I let her go with what she wanted to do,after I told her what I did not want. She did a terrific job, I'm going back for my second cut. I highly recommend Marie. She gave me her direct phone number, the number above is a land phone. (360) 909-1188
I had been thinking for a long time about cutting my hair because wearing it up for the last 20 years was enough (I'm only in my 30's - too young to have the same style for so long!) I had many bad experiences with haircuts, and it was pretty long in the back, but I was SO sick of it! Before I made the appointment, I called and talked to Marie about her experience cutting curly hair. Based on my conversations with her and the reviews, I was willing to give it another try! I'M SO GLAD I DID!!! Marie spent 2 hours on my naturally very thick, and very curly hair. She explained everything she was doing every time, and when I liked how it was shaping up, but knew it wasn't quite perfect yet she continued to work with me, until it was exactly right! She told me I didn't have to wash it every day, so, I decided to experiment the next day (today) without washing, just primping it back up and the curls are still beautiful! THANK YOU MARIE! I LOVE MY NEW HAIR AND EVERYONE ELSE DOES TOO!!!
I too read the reviews and decided to give Marie a try. I have very thick, naturally curly hair. Normally I blow dry it and then straighten it with a flat iron. This can be quite time consuming, hence is why I wanted to be able to wear my hair curly more often. Upon arrival, Marie and I discussed my hair and the outcome I wanted to achieve. She was extremely thorough with all aspects from the color, to the cut, to the style. I was there 4 hours, which is the longest it has ever taken me to get my hair cut, but I feel it was worth it. Marie is very professional, skilled, and friendly. I highly recommend Marie.
I went to Marie after reading other reviews on this site, and after having been with the same stylist for 20+ years. It was difficult for me to proactively change, but I needed to. Marie was caring, understanding, and very intuned to providing me with what I wanted and making every effort to ensure I was pleased. She assured me that I would leave there looking "cute" .... and I did. I will definitely be seeing her many more times. My hair never looked better!
Thanks reviewers, for turning me on to this salon and to Marie! Most all my previous stylists have in some way tried to work against my curly hair so I'd have to be very direct in telling them what to do. Marie clearly knows the "curly head," and she took her time checking out my head shape and my hair. This is probably the best haircut I've had -- and I can say this almost a month after getting it cut! The salon is sooo pleasant (she gave me coffee) and she's very calming, so it was definitely worth paying a little more than I usually do. I highly recommend Marie!
I love my new hair "trim!†Marie was very careful not to take too much off. My new style frames my face showing off my curls. The curls are more defined and they lay very nicely. I am impressed and receiving lots of complements! The thing I am like most is wearing my hair down and not getting so frustrated with the way it looks, that I need to pull it up. My curls are free to be.
I went to this salon based on the previous review. That fellow mentioned no longer works here. Marie is their stylist now and she did an amazing job. She offered a consultation before our first cut, which is awesome. One of the very first things she did was recommend the CG book. (I'm a new curly girl, and had been at it only about one week before I went in for a cut, so my hair is in recovery mode, lol.) The cut was the best cut I've ever gotten. She ended up adding some layers in the back for me (some sort of star part?), and used texturizing scissors on the ends, which has made an amazing difference in the way my curls lay. The only "issue" I had was the products she used to style my hair - NOT cg friendly. I am completely confident she will be open to either using different products or ones that I bring next time around. Overall it was a great experience!
I'd been going to Kevin for the four years that I was in high school. While his prices are a little high, it's worth it for the ambiance and his way of cutting curly hair (I've never seen it before or since). I also love that he uses different hair products, especially since they are sensitive since he does have allergies to a lot of common hair products. I believe it's roughly $40 for a wash, cut, and style.
