This was my first time at Ambushed, and actually my first time getting my hair cut by someone who specializes in curly hair. I sat with Amy and she was great! She is the owner of the salon and obviously knew what she was doing. Amy was easy to talk to, and I really understood what she was doing to my hair and why. I have long, think curly hair, so I really appreciated that she was able to take a lot of the bulk out while keeping it a cute style. I also didn't feel any pressure to buy any products at the end of my appointment. I definitely recommend this place to any frustrated curly-haired woman in Columbus!
Yesterday was my first visit at ambushed and I cannot recommend the salon and Hilary enough! I've struggled through my entire life with stylists that butcher my curly hair. My experience with Hilary was the best cut I've ever had! Like the others have said, I always knew they were supposed to cut it dry first but never has anyone actually done it. She spent at least 20 minutes cutting it dry, then washed, deep conditioned under a dryer, neck massage, scalp massage, then more cutting. She spent time explaining what she was doing and how to take care of my curls at home. The blew dry with a diffuser and styled. She was very patient and particular, even cutting a few strays at the end. I cannot stress enough that if you have curly hair, give her a call, you WILL NOT regret it. My hair falls so much better now, even after washing the next day. Normally it never looks as good as it does after the salon, but it still looks great today! My only complaint was the parking, I had to park a couple of blocks away, but it really wasn't a big deal. The decor and atmosphere is wonderful and I will be going back to Hilary for sure!
I am so happy to have finally found a salon that caters to curls and waves! I had a wonderful haircut experience with Hilary and plan to return to her as my new regular stylist. Anyone with curls or waves needs to realize that only a specialist should be cutting their hair. You will be happier with your hair than ever before and glad that you found this awesome salon.
Still Loving MY TRIM!! I went in to see Mandi to have my heat DAMAGE removed and she did it PERFECT!! She did exactly what I wanted, when others would NOT !! Thanks again Ms. Mandi!!
Mandi has cut my hair two times now and both times have been awesome. My curls tend to get weighed down as they get longer, yet when I asked to see if we could keep my hair longer, she managed get my hair to curl while still long. I thought this was a physical impossibility but it seems Mandi can make my hair defy physics. The most recent time I wanted to cut my hair shorter in the name of connivence. I walked in with a few pictures on my phone, we talked about what I liked about the style and she cut away. When she spun me around to see what my hair looked like after she finished I was beaming because it looked so great. I have never had such trust in a hair stylist as I've had quite a few poodle and triangle cuts, but every cut with her feels like the best haircut I've never had. Mandi offers up recommendations as to hair styling products both offered at the salon and drugstore versions as well. The salon is really nicely decorated and there is a variety of refreshments available. Unless there is a giant convention happening, parking is not an issue. Also, it's kind of fun to go into a Salon dedicated to Curly hair, you could almost pick your next hairstyle based on who walks past!
I heard about Ambushed from a friend of mine who also has curly hair and recommended that I check it out ASAP. I made an appointment for a haircut with Amy, who cut my hair dry, which I had known is what you're supposed to do with curly hair, but I had never actually seen it done before. It turned out to be one of the best haircuts I'd ever had! Amy is incredibly kind and knowledgable and gave me lots of information about how to take care of my curly hair. I mentioned during my haircut that I was thinking about adding some highlights into my hair, so she called over Hilary, another stylist of hers, and the two of them got to work thinking about what colors would be best. Hilary then took over, and I spent the majority of my time at Ambushed with her. Hilary is awesome. She is also very knowledgable about curly hair and gave me LOTS of good advice about how to take care of and style my curls. When she was finished with my coloring and I finally got to take my head out from under the dryer, I was shocked by my reflection in the mirror. My hair has NEVER looked this good in all my life! I can't thank Amy and Hilary enough for what they've done for me. I inherited my curls from my father, so my mother never knew what to do with my hair, and I never learned how to properly care for and style my curls. When I left Ambushed, however, I felt confident that I could very easily do what they did to make my hair look incredible, which is something I've never felt coming out of a salon before. I don't think I can go anywhere else but Ambushed from now on! A huge thank you to Amy and Hilary. :)
I love Ambushed salon! Autumn did an amazing job on my hair. I had gone to a different salon and they destroyed my hair, the cut and color where terrible. I called Amy and she was kind enough to fit me in the same day. Autumn and Amy stayed late to repair the damage done to my hair. It was incredible, I was amazed. Thank you so much Ambushed, you saved my hair! I will never go to another salon again, I'm a lifetime member of Ambushed salon! Love you guys!
I had a great experience. Everyone was very friendly and Amy gave me a great hair cut, pretty much all I was hoping for. She also schooled me on curly girl styling techniques which was very helpful. The receptionist even asked to make sure I didn't need more money in my parking meter since I arrived early for my appointment.
I chose this salon because I am new to Ohio and was looking for a hairdresser who can handle my wavy curls. After reading ravishing reviews about Ambushed Salon and Amy Bush I was confident that she was the right stylist for me. I was so disappointed and do not understand all the great reviews about her. Amy spent more time advising me on hair care products and treatments than actually cutting my hair. My hair needs layering or else it will be frizzy in no time. Amy hardly cut anything, I even asked her if she was already through with styling. Usually people compliment me if I have my hair done, however nobody has said anything so far. It has only been three weeks since Amy did my hair, and it looks terrible! I look like a poodle, and my hair is completely out of shape! I had to cut it myself, and now it looks better. For $60 I expect a better service than me having to cut my own hair. I so much miss my hairdresser back in Illinois where I used to live. She charged $42, layered my hair beautifully, and it would last between 10-12 weeks until my next haircut.
I am african american, and I have 4b hair. I made an appointment with Amy for a trim. She assisted me within five minutes of my arrival. Amy is very professional and the salon is very clean. I was offered refreshments several times while I was there. I was pleased with the services that I received. Overall, I received a trim, shampoo, and two strand twist for $70. The price was a little steep for my budget, but I will definately visit Amy again.
The highest compliment I can think to pay Amy's gift is that I feel like I have my own hair, as good as it can be. Very highly recommended.
I got my haircut from mandi, and it was the first time I got my hair cut for my curly hair (my other stylists would just cut my hair and make it straight) and I love it! Mandi taught me how to keep my curls frizz free and hydrated while going me a great cut and enhancing my. Curls. I hope to always go here for my haircut! When mandi asked me to go though my routine, I told her how to plop,iI guess a learning experience for both of us!
I've known Amy for years and I've always adored her and her talent. I called for a suggestion on another stylist for a last minute haircut and she sent me to Mandi. Mandi did a fabulous job she gave me a excellent consultation I felt very safe in her hands. I have very wavy fine hair it was shoulder length and we decided on a short hair cut. I absolutely love it! I will definately return to Mandi.
This salon was incredible. I found it by googling "curly hair salon in Columbus" and I am so glad I did - Amy new exactly what to do with my hair from the moment I walked in. She not only knew all the buzzwords I was hoping she would (the dilemma about silicones, coconut oil, my curl type, etc) but she even took the time to listen to my "hair story". The entire time I was in the salon, we talked about hair - and it was so refreshing to be around somebody who knew curly hair inside and out. Curly girls have experienced the worst everywhere else, so it felt great to finally trust someone with my hair! I purchased the leave-in conditioner and have continued to have wonderful results days after my haircut, and my hair has never been softer or healthier (and it smells amazing, too!) I highly recommend this salon to anyone with curly hair, from all curl types - I will be making trips from Cincinnati to have my hair cut here from now on!
I randomly came across Ambushed during Gallery Hop this month, and boy am I glad I did! Being an African American woman with 4A/B hair, I am always really picky about who I let work with my hair, and I also tend to be more comfortable with someone who has similar hair to mine. Amy has a very different hair texture than mine, so I was a little apprehensive at first, but just in talking with her, she made me feel very comfortable with her abilities to work with my type of hair. I spoke with Amy and she we could set up a time for me to come in, just so that she could play around with my hair and see what she could do with it. I wasn't really looking for a cut or a style, but I was interested to see how she could work with my hair, especially after seeing such positive reviews. I am so glad that I set that appointment! Amy really worked with my hair and explained what she was doing, what products she was using and why. She also spent an hour and a half finger curling my hair into individual corkscrew curls, which is a style I would never have chosen for myself, because I just don't have the patience to do it! I got so many compliments on it, and it lasted for a few days. It would have lasted longer, but I went swimming and had to wash it out. Whenever I need a trim, or want a different style, I will definitely be coming back to Ambushed!
Amy was absolutely FANTASTIC. I have never had a "real haircut" for my curly hair, only trims or complete disasters, so I was really nervous. After doing some research online I found that Amy's salon is the best in Columbus for curly hair. She walked me through the process and explained everything she was doing so I could recreate it at home. I went into Ambushed with brittle, dry, and boring triangle shaped hair and left with bouncy, healthy and gorgeous locks! I will definitely be going back here!
Amy is the best! She gave me the best cut I've ever had.I would highly recommend her, and the salon is beautiful and in The Short North which is always fun to go to ! I have a problem with my 'straight strands' as I call them. They hang farther down in the center back part of my hair and look odd. I have only had one other stylist be able to 'tame' them, but when Amy cut them they stayed away longer ;) I also had my hair colored by Jen, who I think is, or at the time was, an apprentice (or a title similar lol ) and it was only $10 as part of a special for her training I believe. My hair never ever ever turns out right with color, and I'm not sure why, but it had nothing to do with the service from Jen, my hair just doesnt like color I guess. Ambushed is top of the line :)
This was my first visit to Ambushed... I was very curious/excited about a salon for curly girls, and Amy didn't dissapoint! For the first time I went to get my hair cut by someone who actually knows what to do with my sometimes-frizzy-birds-nest- curly- hair! Amy clearly is very knowledgable about how to manipulate your hair type and make it look great. <3
Like many curly girls I have been searching for a stylist who can cut curly hair for what seems like forever. I'm 24 yrs old and have had curly hair all my life I'm a 3b. I've been to all kinds of stylists the ones who say they can cut curly hair and you go in for just an inch off and come out with 5 inches off, the ones who you literally have to jump out of the seat because they just won't stop cutting, and finally the ones who do a decent job but never really what you wanted but u just deal with it anyway. So when I saw the reviews about Amy I had to give her a try and I must admit when she just started cutting my curls one by one just how they were without stretching them out I was a little scared. I didn't know that, that is really how curly hair is suppose to be cut. Amy took time to listen to what I wanted and actually look at me and see what would look good on me. I wanted to keep the length but have some shape to it. I'm a proud curly girl I always wear my hair curly and I wear it big. She gave me shape so I could wear it big and gave me tips on how to get good "second" day hair. The salon was beautiful and I just love my haircut. BTW I waited about 2 weeks to write this review to make sure I really loved it and could style it myself and I DO it's AMAZING!!!!!!!
This was my first visit to Ambushed, so I waited three weeks to write the review since I am both new to embracing my natural curl and to having my hair cut to the curl. All I have to say is, Yes, YES, ohhhhhhh...YES! Amy was truly wonderful. She took lots of time to show me how to style the natural curl and how to use products to enhance the look. I am TOTALLY in awe of her talent (not to mention her own gorgeous curly hair!), and look forward to many more visits. If you're thinking about going natural for the first time, or want to treat your curls to a new, modern stylist, DON'T WAIT ANOTHER MINUTE! Don't be intimidated by her location - there is plentiful on-street parking in front of the salon, and you can walk around the corner and do some serious Short North shopping when Amy's done making you beautiful.
Charita has now cut my hair into short layers three times, and each time I walked out of the salon with a great cut. Charita is not only professional and detail-oriented but also warm and friendly. Every morning I walk out of the house with wet hair, bike with a helmet for half an hour to get to work, and my hair still looks great all day -- all due to Charita's skills. She also shapes my brows, and I really like the result. Charita's services make me feel pretty and confident, and I can't recommend her highly enough.
This was my first visit to Ambushed and it was fantastic! I came in not knowing exacting what I wanted to do with my curls, but Charita had a vision and I immediately felt like I could trust her. She took the time to answer all of my questions! She came up with a solution to fix the highlights that I regretted and changed to tone not the shade of my hair, it looks FANTASTIC! I called in 15 minutes before I got to Ambushed to schedule an appointment, I knew it was now or never to trust someone to cut my curls short for the first time. I read review from this website and I felt like I was going to be in good hands. Although I made a last minute appointment Charita spent 3 HOURS WITH ME! She took the time to explain everything, she didn't make me feel rushed like a lot of other salons do. For the first time I got home and I absolutely LOVE my new hair cut! :)
Hi. I'm a 3c with thick, curly hair. Amy knows the basics of how to work with curly hair - which I appreciated because in my experience many stylists *don't* - but I didn't think that the haircut I received was worth $80. The top and sides of my hair are long, and fall into my face. Amy's solution to this was to push the hair back behind my ears. If I wanted the kind of haircut where you have to push your hair behind your ears to make it work, I could cut it at home myself. I was disappointed that she didn't offer other suggestions for cut or shape. There are other salons in Columbus that will give you a mediocre trim for less money.
I have much Amy love. I moved to Columbus about 4 years ago. I first went to a highly recommended stylist that "knew" how to cut curly hair. I left with what can only be described as an afro-mullet. I looked ridiculous. I first read about naturallycurly.com at a parenting forum. Out of curiosity, I started reading here. Thank the stars for that because it led me to Amy. Going to Amy for that first appointment was the best hair decision that I have ever made. Years later, I now love my hair. She took the time to actually listen to my concerns. Something, every other stylist I have gone to never bothered to do. She cut my hair, and it actually looked good. I haven't been to another stylist since. Now, I get complimented on my hair all the time. My son is also a curly, and has decided to let his curls grow out. I am taking him to Amy too.
I was very nervous to go to this salon. I am bi-racial and I have very curly hair (3c-4 not very sure) I asked Amy for a cut to give me shape to my hair. Usually, my hair is cut after it has been blowed dried and flat ironed, but Amy cut my hair curly. For the most part, I love the cut. I actually have a bit of shape to my hair now which I did not have before. I am not sure I would be able to wear my hair straight and have it even because it was cut curly, but I rarely wear it straight. I still noticed that I had a lot of split ends and that sort of bummed me out. My biggest issue were the products used to style my hair. I forget the brand, but when I left the salon and went home I noticed the products only left my hair feeling sticky and lots of flakes and residue throughout my hair. The salon was gorgeous, but I think limiting the products to one line may not work for everyone.
Amy's great. She's been my hair stylist for over 10 years and knows how to best bring out my curl pattern so I look my best. She's a master colorist, and always keeps my blonde hair (once a natural blonde) looking great. I always feel pampered when I visit Amy and I know you will too!
Amy ROCKS!!!! I was a little hesitant when making my appointment at Ambushed. Being African-American I wasn't sure if the salon had that much experience with my type of hair (4A). I called the salon after making my appointment online (which was extremely easy and convenient by the way) and expressed my concerns. It was Amy's day off however her front desk guy called her explaining my call and she promptly called me to discuss my concerns and assured me that she was knowledgeable and able. I couldn't have been happier. Not only was the salon extremely warm and friendly but Amy really knew her stuff. I left extremely happy AND with a follow-up appointment in two weeks. I would recommend ALL CURLY haired women to Ambushed, trust me you will be satisfied.
My hair grew back curly after chemo and I had no idea how to manage it. I'd had it cut once since it started growing back to even it out as I grew it out, but I was seeing a poodle every time I looked in the mirror. Amy and her staff welcomed me into their lovely, peaceful salon and within minutes Amy explained what my hair was doing and why. She listened to me when I told her what I wanted and then cut my hair beautifully. Amy specializes in curly hair, and she really knows what she's doing. In addition to the fantastic cut, Amy pampered me from start to finish, washing my hair herself, massaging my head and neck, and giving my hair a moisturizing treatment, all included in the very reasonable price of the cut. I am so pleased with the cut and the service, I will certainly be back. I recommend Amy and Ambushed without any reservation. She is amazing!
Amy is extremely talented, professional and knows how to make you look good. My hair is natually wavy and with the way she cuts it I can make it curly or go straight depending on the day. Love the products and the cozy feel of the salon. I would highly recommend Amy!
I moved back to Columbus a little over a year ago, and of course I was dreading finding a new stylist. I found Amy on this site and I made an appointment...the rest is history! She is amazing! She can work my type 3b curls better than anyone has ever done! I straightened my hair for years, but Amy (and her amazing products), make me LOVE my curls! She is an equally amazing colorist, she uses high-quality color that lasts. If you are a curly headed girl...you should go see Amy! She makes you feel like a queen, and you will leave her salon loving your curls again!
I originally found Amy a few years ago through the curly reviews, and even though I would follow her across the country, I am thrilled she has opened her own Short North salon to showcase her curl magic. Amy understands my curls like no one else ever has, and all I need to do is bring in a picture or float her an idea, and she starts lifting and snipping and pulling and scrunching to create a look that gets compliments everywhere I go. Seriously...even the gas station. And as if curl magic isn't enough, Amy is also a color artist extraordinaire, mixing her own blends and painting on color that is vibrant, gorgeous and long-lasting. At almost 50 (and having had many, MANY stylists), my hair has never looked better. As other curlies can attest, once you find THAT stylist, your bad hair days are a thing of the past. Amy is THAT stylist.
I've tried all sorts of places to keep my curls in check, from high end to low. And I have never had a cut and color as good as what I get from Amy. She takes her time and really works to get you a style that helps your curls look their best. Plus, I love her company and I adore her new salon--it's beautiful and serene. I recommend her highly--I feel so lucky that she's in Columbus!
After reading the reviews here, I finally decided to get my hair cut. It's been over 20 years since I had it cut. Amy was absolutely wonderful! She took the time to explain & show me how to correctly style my hair. She made me feel very at ease, and the whole process was very relaxing. I absolutely love my hair! I would highly recommend Amy to anyone!
Like many other curly hairs', I have never found pleasure in going to the salon for the dreaded hair cut. I found amy on this site through the reviews and tried to get a hold of her(I have a tight scheduale at work), through my impatience of not wanting to wait to hear from her I of course made the "again mistake" of going to another salon. They "said" they had a woman their that was very good at curly hair. So I went and 45.00 later I felt the only thing she did was trim my hair. Again dissapointed in the whole process. The next day Amy called me and heard the saddness in my voice. She offered to have me come in to look at my hair and cut my hair and teach me how to manage my hair. I was floored, I started to tear up and told her I felt I just won the lottery.(she wasn't charging me) I met up with Amy later that day, and all I can say is she has got a client for life!!! I LOVE her products,LOVE how she teaches you about your hair and tells you "why" this is good or bad for your hair. Amy is going to be opening up her own salon in the short north soon. Though she is still at salon loft now. If you have EVER felt like me in the past and dreaded the salon. PLEASE see AMY BUSH. She is the BEST.!!!!!!
After moving to Columbus, I went on Naturally Curly.com to find a stylist. Well, the reviews do not lie! Amy Bush was amazing!! Pricey, yes, but totally worth it. It was the first cut my husband has ever complimented me on (and he actually noticed it!). I asked her to please cut it and give it shape without losing much length, and she is the first person in my entire life to have actually DONE THAT to my curly hair. It looks great, it feels wonderful. I'm so thankful to have found her. She told me she is opening her own salon in May, I believe she said it will be called "Ambush" (after her own name). I will follow her there!
I have mixed type 3a hair, with the layers underneath sometimes laying much flatter than those on top, which was starting to give my hair a really strange look when I finally went to see Amy. Although I had been considering it for weeks, I still wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, but Amy talked to me about what I thought I wanted and what would look good and designed a cut that makes my hair look fantastic. When I got home from getting it cut a friend of mine commented that it looked "A LOT BETTER THAN BEFORE!" The products she uses also smell and feel wonderful, and are not full of strange chemicals that you've never heard of. I would definitely recommend Amy to anyone who is frustrated with their curls and wants a cut that will look good on them, not just on HollyWood stars and magazine models.
I went to see Amy again today, my last cut was in December. Again, today I was blown away! I loved my last cut, and decided to go even shorter. Amy listened, agreed and now I have my shortest cut ever and once again I LOVE IT!! I am so glad I have finally found a stylist that gets curly hair, and that I no longer have to settle!
I really liked this visit. Amy is the first stylist I've ever had whom I trust understands my concerns and wishes. She's really listening when you speak. The best thing about Amy is that she'll tell you her honest opinion. If you want something she has a strongly negative feeling about, she'll tell you. She won't let you leave with what you thought you wanted but looks horrible on you. She cut off all my straight parts August 2009, and for the first two months I 100% hated it. But I realize that's just because it was SO short. But, I see Amy's wisdom; the cut has grown out beautifully. It's at bob length now and I get compliments all the time (although I have not gotten a cut since and am growing it out). It has never ONCE looked awkward or shapeless as it grows out. I look forward to my next visit with Amy, which will probably be whenever my hair needs shaping (distant future!).
I have very thick type 3c/4a curls and I've been natural for a year and a half and my hair started to look like a mullet lol. I read so many great reviews about Amy I just had to go. My cut was fabulous! She knew how to work and style and used organic products, and she's so sweet! She will be my hair dresser from now on!
I saw Amy's reviews on here and thought about calling her, then my mom's stylist recommended her and this is when I knew that I had to make an appointment. I am SOOOO glad that I did. Amy took the time to ask me what I wanted and let me know what would and would not work. I can safely say that this is the first time that I have gotten a hair cut and my hair looks better now than when I went into the salon. I wanted a shorter cut, and Amy gave me exactly what I wanted and I LOVE IT!! I will never go to anyone else.
I always liked my curly hair on good days but there seemed to be more bad than good. Thanks to Amy’s knowledge of curly hair and her experience, I now love my curls and this is the most maintenance free they have ever been. It’s been two months since my appointment and my hair still has the same great style as the day I visited the salon, and the curls hold the entire day without frizzing. Curly hair girls, if you’re looking for a great stylist in the Columbus Area it would be worth your while to visit Amy.
I had an appointment with Amy yesterday to donate my hair and possibly go for a short curly cut. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted and I laid all my trust in Amy. She is absolutely amazing! She looked at my face, style and personality and came up with some really great ideas. I've never gone this short before so I was very nervous. Amy took her time washing and cutting my hair all the while explaining what she was doing as she went along. She educates you about whats good for your hair but does not push product on you. I'm so happy I went with Amy and I will definitely go back!
I am of bi-racial decent and have always had mixed emotions re: my naturally curly hair--no pun intended--LOL, but after years (too many years) of wearing my hair slicked to the side in a ponytail, I recently motivated to wear my curly hair out...after reviewing the many great reviews about Amy, I made an appointment w/her (I was a little apprehensive due to the racial divide) and was TOTALLY satisfied with my hair cut and the new knowledge gained about how to REALLY care for my curly locks. I have been to many stylist who were SEMI-KNOWLEDGEABLE about how to care for my hair, but Amy was actually KNEW. I was very please and will be returning...and hope to post the pics of our appointment and my attempts to tame my curly mass...Amy is the bomb!!!!!
I am of bi-racial decent and have always had mixed emotions about my naturally curly hair. For years I went to stylists semi-knowledgeable about how to care for my hair, but Amy knew exactly how to work with my curly mass (despite the racial divide...I have to admit I was nervous) and I walked out with a GREAT cut and armed with more knowledge than ever before about what to use and not use in my hair: sodium sulfate... is a NO NO...Of course my attempts to tame my curls fail in comparison to Amy's skills, I am learning every day how to care for and enjoy my hair--after many years of laying it down into a pony tail I now wear it out proud!!!!! Thanks Amy!
I was so amazed by Amy's skills! I've always had problems with stylists not listening to me when I tell them about my hair's idiosyncrasies, so I always end up with a cut that doesn't have good shape, never looks quite right, and doesn't satisfy me. Amy not only listened, she also understood. She cut my hair like no one else ever had -- carefully considering each curl, sculpting my locks into the perfect shape. She truly is an artist!
Amy was amazing! She is truly gifted! She has the ability to look at your hair and know the best hairstyle for you! The haircut she gave me is wonderful! I will definitely be back!
After getting a few bad haircuts, I found Amy and I'm staying! Amy understands my hair, the way it pulls up when it dries, the way layers sit, how to make it fuller without it being one round poof or looking like the triangle-head from Dilbert. I don't describe very well what I want, but she always knows what I mean and always does it well. Besides getting my best haircuts from Amy, she is a very nice and creative person, so she's fun to be around. Once you try, you'll see what I mean!
Amy is absolutley awesome!! I am 36 years old and have never had anyone that knows how to cut my natural curly hair, but Amy did!!! Her cut made my hair lay better. I had 80's big hair before Amy cut it. Not only does my hair lay better now but it is more curly. I was so excited that I was in tears of joy when Amy was done. She also has wonderful styling techniques. Two weeks later I went back to Amy and she colored my hair. She is a genius with color also! I am so happy that I met Amy. She also has a wonderful personality and is a true genius with cut and color.
I love my hair! This is the first time in six years that I will be able to wash and go without spending over an hour applying products in a failed attempt to get the look I want. Not only did Amy do a great job with the cut she showed me various styles I can get without having to fight with my hair. I can't wait to go back!!
I went to see Amy for the first time today and I LOVED her! I've struggled with my curls all my life. In an unsuccessful attempt to tame my girls I let someone chemically relax my hair when I was 12, and it hasn't been the same since. I had straight pieces, super curly pieces, and it just looked horrible. Amy listened very well. She took time to explain exactly what I had been doing wrong, and what I can do to repair the damage and revive my curls. This is the best haircut I've had. My hair is no longer bulky and heavy. I have movement and my curls are full and bouncy. The all natural products she used smell wonderful! I am so happy I finally decided to book an appointment with her and definitely plan on going back!
I had a friend who recommended me to Akada in Grandview when I needed an up-do for my wedding reception. What great luck that I found Amy! She has now transitioned to Salon Lofts and is still providing exceptional service. I have wavy/slightly curly hair and have NEVER had a sylist do anything but cut and blow it out straight. Amy spends time talking with me about my hair, my look, and how much effort I want to put in and is able to work with my curls. She is constantly providing tips and helpful hints to help me better manage my curls. I am wearing my hair curly all of the time now and LOVING IT. Amy's cuts are expensive, but worth it. I would highly recommend her.
I completely agree with the other reviews about how great Amy is. I am very picky about who cuts my curly hair and I was excited to go to Amy after reading all the reviews about her. She was wonderful. She explained her products and how she was going to cut my hair. She listened to what I like/don't like and gave me the perfect cut. It's exactly what I was looking for! She gave me great suggestions for styling. When she was finished, I seriously had never seen my hair so curly!!
After eight years of going to the same stylist in Cincinnati, I found Amy (through a friend) in Columbus and also a fantastic haircut! The style has held past the salon and is super simple to do on my own! I was so grateful for the consulting time Amy put in to walk me through how she does hair and what she was going to do with my hair.
I found Amy on the Columbus City Search engine last year and have never been happier with my curly hair cut and style. Amy is the only stylist I have ever found who knows how to layer my thick and heavy hair in a way to bring all my curls out from hiding! I am amazed at her talent and tell her she is more than a hair sylist, she is a hair artist! Anyone who has trouble managing their curly locks should give Amy a try. As the previous reviewer stated, she is totally amazing! I also must mention that the hair color she uses on my hair is equally amazing and natural looking.
