Great place, profesional and friendly! It is pricey, but i loved my haircut. I love my curls, which i barely straigten and always air dry, and it turned out good after the cut.
J-ruined my long type 3b mermaid curls. I asked about his curly cutting experience and he told me he was an expert. He didn't listen to my hair cut needs, had his assistants wash/prepare my hair for a cut, and chopped my hair into a mullet with short layers. My curls went away and I was left with a frizzy mess. I went back to the salon so they could fix it and I left in worse shape than before. I now a happy client of Megan Centeio's-a true curly hair expert. It has been 12-months and she is still working with me to grow out the layers and return to my natural shape. J-Salon was the worst salon I have ever been to. It is aesthetically pleasing due to the hollywood feel and high end furniture. Assistance serve you tea or coffee and you change in changing rooms. J-Salon also carries top of the line kerastase product-which are pricey and ineffective. They have no clue about curly hair. Highly UN-RECOMMENDED SALON!
A friend recommended this salon to me, so I thought I'd give it a try. I am one of those crazy girls who have had a bad haircut experience (think Egyptian pyramid)and have always freaked out when it comes time for a cut. No one has been able to give me a cut that I loved, until Melissa. Melissa, has curly hair herself and really understands how to cut and style curly hair. Every stylist I've ever been to in Hawaii wants to flat iron my hair...hello! I'm not going to flat iron it when I go home! Melissa recommended a really awesome curl enhancing cream by Kerastase, and a spray from Shu Uemura. My curls look awesome. No frizz, and no hard crunchy curls. Just soft touchable ringlets (not that I would let anyone touch my curls) but if they did, they would feel soft. She did a great job with my cut too. I have never loved my hair. Now I love it everyday!
