I have to say whoever said that the good reviews aren't written by customers, must be right. I had a bad feeling about going here and went anyway, and regretted it. The stylist was rude to me, and was working on 3 different people while I was there. It was expensive (which is fine, it's curly hair) but it was really bad. The salon is gross, she actually said she wasn't good at doing hair, it was a disaster, do not go there.
Ginger cut my hair back in May and I've been spending all summer waiting for it to grow back. She seems knowledgeable about curly hair, but I don't feel like she listened to what I was asking for. Especially disappointing since I brought pictures, and rambled on and on about my likes and dis-likes. Also . . . the smell of incense gives me a headache. I have very curly hair, but I like to keep it long to style in a softer, more relaxed manor. On this particular hair cut I even went for fringe bangs to pair with long, soft curls. Unfortunately, she cut off a lot of my length, gave me straight fringe bangs, then used curl enhancing (not relaxing) products and techniques to give me a Shirley Temple style. It probably goes without saying, I looked and felt ridiculous. Like a poodle with bangs. I used my own sheers over the coming month to get back the shape I like as it grew out. I am glad she encouraged me to try to Deva Curl products. The low/no-poo products have been great for my hair and I'll never go back to the "Poo" products. Ginger could be your girl if you like super curly hair. Not sure if I'll try her again, I wasn't reassured she was listening to what I wanted.
I just had my first hair cut at New Creations, where I was seen by Ginger. She was absolutely fabulous. It honestly has changed my life. I have very curly hair and have always been unhappy with my past stylists. She has completely changed that for me. She explained everything that she was doing and taught me so many things, that I never knew about my hair. My hair turned out amazing. It has never looked or felt this way. She did not push the Deva Curl products onto me but did make me realize that I have been using the wrong products this entire time. Deva definitely makes a difference. I will recommend Ginger to anyone that has curly hair. She can now consider me a loyal customer. Thanks Ginger :)
I've been a client of Lindsey's for about four years now and still LOVING everything she does!! On top of doing an amazing job on my cut and color, going to see her is like hanging out with one of my girl friends. I'm writing this review to let everyone know how great she is and to spread the word that she's opened her own business now!! Go check her out! WAY TO GO GIRL!!!! www.rishdesign.net
I lost my stylist after a great seven years and found myself in desperate need of a cut and highlights. I read the reveiwes on this site and booked with Lindsey. The whole experience was great! Lindsey was very friendly and fun, and gave me one of the best cuts I have had in a while. The highlights look great, too! She definitely knows her curly stuff. And though they sell Deva products, she didn't push them. She tells you what she used in case you want to buy it, but that's it. No pressure. I finally found my new stylist! Thanks for a great cut, Lindsey! I'll be back soon!
I was looking to try the Deva haircut, I found these guys on their website. Ginger did an amazing job on my hair. I have curly hair that is very hard to cut, but she totally got it. You can tell a great haircut by how it grows out. I saw Ginger 2 months ago and it is growing out perfectly. I am sooo picky about my hair so I am very happy to have found a great place. She also introduced me to the Deva products and showed me exactly how to use them. I have been learning a completely new way of washing & styling my hair and it shows!! My curls have never looked better. Don't hesitate to make an appointment. Thank you Ginger!!!!!
I had my first hair cut at New Creations yesterday and fell in love. Ginger cut and styled my hair, but no worries, from what I can see, and have been told, all of the hair stylists at New Creations are experienced in cutting curly hair. They use the DevaCut (cut the hair dry, then shampoo/condition and cut some wet before styling)... Ginger knows a lot about curly hair care and can guide anyone in the right direction. I think the best way to know if a salon is good, is by the products they are selling in their store..they sell Deva, which is a major , natural, curly hair care line and I was instantly at ease. (not to mention the atmosphere of the salon is completely relaxing) If you have been looking for a salon that specializes in curly hair, this is it. I never write reviews on salons, but this one is worth sharing.
After many a disaster with my hair, I was pretty scared to let someone have a whack at my curly mop. Alas, my hair begged to differ. A coworker told me she went to a salon that specialized in curly hair. I am so happy to have found Ginger. It has been TOO long since I’ve had a stylist that understands me. I gave her some basic ideas and she went from there. She is very creative and I can tell she was considering me & my hair type when doing my hair. I’ve always avoided wearing my hair shorter due to frizz and shear mass that my hair achieves. She said I’d look great with a little less length and a lot less weight….What did I have to loose right? I went for it. I am sooooo glad I did. One of the best haircuts ever! Even after the cut had essentially grown out, I continued to get compliments. All of the stylists I encountered at the salon were also super friendly and personable. Many salons I have been to have been downright snooty & uptight. I was pleasantly surprised at the inviting laid back atmosphere right away. Everyone there seems fun and down-to-earth and do they ever know about curly hair !! Curls are serious business to these girls. I’m so happy to say, I’ve finally learned how to tame this mane. My curls have thanked me daily. I also appreciated the large sample sizes of everything that Ginger used on my hair. I had never used Grund before, but it's just right for my hair. I definitely recommend this salon. Just a great group of knowledgeable people who really do seem to have a passion for what they do. It’s very refreshing to see.
I just had my first experience with Britni at New Creations today, and was very impressed! Never have I had anyone pay so much attention to my hair! She was very knowledgeable and precise, and I felt completely confident from the get go of her expertise before she even touched my hair with her scissors. I adore my cut; she really got rid of a lot of bulk and gave me an excellent shape that is easy to maintain. One thing that no one has mentioned that really surprised me is that they absolutely guarantee their haircuts. So if in a few days, something is not laying right, I can give her a call and she will fix it. Very impressed.
This place was recommended to me for hair color, as mine was a disaster. They were really great. I was desperate!! I lost my hairdresser of many years and had to find someone who could work with curly hair. So one day when I couldn't stand my hair another minute, I walked into New Creations Salon. They were so accommodating; they got me right in, listened to me and made me feel like a million dollar's. But time would tell just how good the haircut was. It looked good when I left, BUT could I keep it looking good?! It's now been a year and I will ALWAYS be a faithful client!!!! Lindsey has done SUCH WONDERS with my hair! For example, I had to be out of town for 2 months thus I was 12 weeks out on my cut (I go every 6 weeks), my hair just KEPT LOOKING BETTER and BETTER! I NEVER would have believed it. Never once did I feel like 'my hairs driving me crazy,I've GOT to get it cut'. It is now so manageable and easy to deal with! If you're looking for THE BEST ask for Lindsey (I'm sure they're all really good; but she's the only stylist I've been to there: ). This is NOT a snotty salon. It is very warm, colorful and cute. Good Energy. All the girls are very nice. They all come over and shoot the breeze with me. What a great group. You can really tell when people love what they do. I just can't say enough about 'this jewel of a salon I've found!!!!! You will not be disappointed!!!
I had my second appointment with Brittani, and she is just as great as I thought she would be. During my first appointment, she gave me a lot of time to discuss my hair needs (thin, fine, curly, wavy) and listened when I told her I was not ready to lose more than an inch in length. She shaped my hair with precision, I kept my length, and- this is a biggie, she made the back of my hair actually fall into the curl pattern of the front! I love the salon, a wonderful old house with creaky wooden floors, great lighting, and yummy smells and even my husband doesn't feel uncomfortable waiting for me there, which is something for a man who calls my hair appointments "barber shop" visits. I will be leaving this area soon, and wish I could take Brittani with me.
I brought my 14 year old daughter to New Creations salon for her first "grown up" salon experience and, hopefully, a great mother-daughter bonding experience. Well, the trip was everything I hoped it would be. The salon had caught my eye many times driving by and when I recognized it on NaturallyCurly.com, I thought it was "meant to be." My daughter is thrilled by the highlights she got from Lindsey. She has gotten lots of compliments at school, and is feeling really good about herself. What more could I ask? I have naturally curly hair and Brittni did a great job on my hair. For maybe the first time ever, I left a salon with what I requested, hair that was still below my shoulders and hair that had shape, that was not a giant triangle! Everyone at the salon, the stylists and the owner, was friendly and knowledgeable. They had a lot of good advice and gave generous product samples. We'll be going back.
Hands down, the best salon in the city and Brittany is the best colorist and curly hair stylist I've found. I have been to so many salons in the city, including some of the most expensive ones that shall remain unnamed here, paying upwards of $250 to get my hair cut and colored Ridiculous, I know. They say they do curly hair?? Maybe just not mine. 6 months ago I paid way too much money to get a terrible coloring job and bad cut again. I looked on this site and decided I had nothing left to lose. I went to New Creations and saw Brittany and she saved my horrific combination of gray-orange hair and turned it into what it was supposed to be; beautiful and NATURAL looking blonde highlights. It maintained so well. It was four months before I had to go back for anything. This time back, the highlights were even better and every last remnant of bad hair color is gone. My hair looks better than I ever thought it could. I was able to trust her enough to go with bangs. She gave me beautiful bangs that are both soft and edgy. I couldn't be happier. I keep staring at myself in the mirror. My hair has never looked so good. The test of good color and cut: I woke up this morning, threw my hair in a ponytail and it looks like I spent an hour on it. Bonus: if your bangs need to be trimmed, it's free.
There are a lot of good reviews on this salon, but personally I think the people that work at this salon have written them. I am a 2C/3A and I saw the "good" reviews and decided to try New Creations. I'm telling anyone that is considering going to this place right now, DON'T GO! I went, I told Kasie what I wanted and she did the exact opposite. I told her that I didn't want more than half an inch off of the length; she took at least an inch and a half off. When I left the salon I had to hold back tears. I know, a little dramatic, but that's how bad the cut was. Please, save your hair and don't go here!
While I can't speak of the quality of the salon or stylists, I have to say as a potential new customer I am surprised and shocked they would not return my phone messages to book an appointment. I left two messages wanting to set up an appointment over the course of 1 1/2 weeks, and no one called me back. Maybe they aren't taking new clients, but that is very unprofessional in my book and I won't be calling back or patronizing their salon in the future.
After a disaster with a new stylist in New York, I was more than a little scared to let someone have a whack at my curly mop. Alas, my hair begged to differ. I decided to take a chance after reading all the outstanding reviews What did I have to loose after zig zagging all over town to find the right salon?? I have finally found it! New Creations Salon is has a refreshingly comfortable and friendly atmosphere. It is a house turned into a little artsy salon. So cute, very unique and colorful decor. Kasie is my hairdresser and have never been happier with my hair. She always offers me an honest opinion and fresh new ideas (which I require to keep the boredom away!LOL). She is amazing with my thick curly mane. My curls have NEVER looked so great. Many people stop me asking where I get my color done - and I'm proud to refer them to New Creations. No "prima donnas" here - just nice people committed to excellence. Great music, not too loud, nice street side location...just a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. I work at a local hotel and have referred many guests to the salon - they have all come back raving and looking gorgeous. You can't go wrong with whoever there does your hair. Check it out...you'll be back.
I found New Creations Salon after working my way through a number of (bad) stylists. The first time I visited Kasie at New Creations - who works wonder with color - I had a horrible color job and was pretty cynical, thinking I would never find someone that could get curly hair. Kasie listens to what you want, considers the essentials like facial structure and skin tone, and gives you his suggestions. The result? Fabulous color that compliments your face and makes you love your hair (perhaps after a long history of frustration!). I've also had cuts with Lindsey who is also wonderful with listening and making the most out of your particular type of hair. Everyone in the salon has been friendly, fun, and provide great service in a relaxed atmosphere. You can tell the staff enjoy what they are doing. And do these girls ever know curly hair !! I have never learned more about my hair in such a short period of time. I have ridiculously thick curly hair that can be unruly and time-consuming - I've never felt rushed or pressured. Also, after going to many a salon where I get hounded to buy their products - I've never felt sales pressure - which is nice! So...get yourself over to New Creations Salon with any of the girls...you won't be disappointed!
Having extremely curly, frizzy, big, dry and very difficult to deal with hair all my life. I gave up on getting it to... (Show All) Having extremely curly, frizzy, big, dry & very difficult to deal with hair all my life. I gave up on getting it to be gorgeous, shiny, bouncy curls that had ringlets to die for after maybe disaster #15 or so. They always start by letting me know ALL the amazing things my hair was about to become and be. My sister and I were blessed with the same hair. After going to New Creations Salon, she stopped by my house glowing and bouncing with excitement and joy. She looked fabulous. I am always so nervous when I am getting my hair done, fearing I will be spun around in the chair and be feel disappointed. My experience was very different the moment I had picked up the phone. They actually asked my about my hair and they seemed to know my curls. They told me to stop using shampoo and to towel dry my hair before adding (to the ends only) conditioner. My hair looked better than it had in years before I even got there. Lindsey made me feel comfortable and confident b/f ever picking up her scissors. I got the most amazing haircut and my first hair color (highlight w/ lowlights). My hair has never looked better in my life truly. It has dimension and shine thanks to just a few strands of color. Who knew some aluminum foil could make my hair look so good. For the first time in my life, I am wearing it down and enjoying my curls and I know how to make them look great now. It?s easy !
