Love, love the atomsphere in the salon. Mona is a curl master. She took the time to talk me about hair and most life style. My curls look great. I will NEVER let anyone cut or style my hair again.
Mona has been my stylist for several years now. I first met her at Elle et Lui, walking in one Saturday hoping to find a good salon and stylist. I didn't have an appointment to see anyone in particular, and the receptionist asked Mona to work with me. What luck! Mona took time to talk with me about what I was looking for, evaluating my hair type/texture and looking at my face. I knew I'd found a great stylist, and I see her now at her own salon, Lofty. Her cuts are terrific. As the cut grows out and gets longer, it somehow manages to hold its style and shape and always looks terrific. I've never had a haircut do that before (other cuts I'd gotten over the years always grew out unevenly). I've also stepped up to haircolor in recent years, to cover the gray and enliven my natural color, and Mona's judgment here is also spot-on. Whether highlights or one-process coloring, the resulting color looks wonderful, very natural. Mona combines an experienced eye with deft use of her scissors to produce terrific haircuts. I appreciate her and her staff at Lofty.
I love Lofty. I have been there several times and only had good experiences. Mona is the owner and is fabulous with curly hair. The last time I visited Lauren did my color which looked amazing and then Mona did another wonderful cut. For Mother's Day, my husband gave me a "spa day" - facial, massage and my hair styled. I was so relaxed. The friendly, inviting atmosphere of the salon was also great and everyone was very attentive and welcoming.
Another great hair cut and color at Lofty. Mona and her entire staff is wonderful.
I hate to be one of the few negative reviews but after my experience, I just have to. I heard so many wonderful things about Mona so I was ecstatic when she was able to see me yesterday. On the phone she said we should have an in depth consultation when I got there. When she was ready for me, she asked me what I wanted to achieve. I told her I would like my layers "trimmed" and she said it my hair was too long. I was okay with that suggestion as I do like my hair right at my shoulders. I also asked for long sideswept bangs. She didn't ask about my lifestyle, but I did tell her I have 7 month old twins so I don't have a ton of extra time to fiddle with my hair. She didn't tell me what she was going to do, just that it would be long enough to still put in a pony tail. I trusted her because of everything I read about her. During my session I asked if my hair was dry and she said, and I quote "Your hair is not dry at all." yet she pushed a product for very dry hair. She also asked if I had kids AFTER I told her about my twins. So I don't think she listened to me or my needs at all. I think she just cut waht she had in mind and that was it. I couldn't get out fast enough. The layers were too short and they were uneven and they didn't blend. I do think she probably does a great job for folks who have very thick, curly hair but mine is more wavy and it is fine.
I admit it...I cheated on Mona. Five months ago I tried a Ouidad-certified stylist nearby. I had heard so much about the "slicing and carving" method, and I decided to try it (O.K., and I had a coupon). I left the Ouidad salon with awesome looking curls...like something out of a magazine! BUT it took so much effort..."shaking and raking," blow drying upside down, wringing. AND...here comes another "but"...my hair became entangled so easily. I'd wake up looking like I did in elementary school before anyone knew what to do with my hair. I was literally pulling my hair out every time I had to wash and comb/brush through it. So, I humbly slinked back to Mona and begged her to help me get my hair back to something manageable. She is the only person in my adult life that has been able to give me a cut that is easy to style, lasts a good long while, and doesn't require a ton of products...honestly, just Hold On gel. Turns out that Ouidad "slicing and carving" created so many different layers in my hair that it was just a tangled mess after one day. With Mona's cut, I shampoo and condition every other day, put in some gel, and I'm out the door quickly without crazy styling techniques. My hair looks great. Thanks, Mona!!
Mona is a superbly talented stylist with a true instinct for what looks good on people. Not only that, she's a very caring person whose salon / spa is a reflection of who she is -- lovely and welcoming. Highly recommend!
I have been fighting my hair most of my life. My hair is in between wavy and curly, and I have been blowing it dry and straightening it with round brushes for years. I never knew how to really work with it curly. I'm still in the learning process, but am loving how healthy my hair looks and feels naturally. Mona took a great deal of time with me, and gave tips on how to shampoo and not use conditioner which was just weighing my hair down. I have a haircut now that suits my curls and using her fabulous product, Brocato(Hold on gel), I'm very pleased with the results. I went to Lofty expecting to need a perm and walked out with what nature gave me, and I really like it. Thanks, Mona! Betsy Kemp
When I relocated for a new job, I was so worried I would not be able to find a stylist that could work with my hair. I read all the great reviews about Mona so decided to giver her a try. I was not disappointed. My hair looks AWESOME and the cut is so easy for me to maintain. I work in Tysons and it only took me 5 minutes to get to Lofty.
I wish I could say that my experience at Lofty was comforting and that I walked away with a fantastic new look. But I can't. I decided to go to Lofty based on the reviews on this site. I didn't find anything particularly comforting about the experience. Perhaps I caught Mona on a bad day; she seemed kind of upset. She did mention that her assistant was out sick and so she had to do everything herself. But she didn't really seem busy at all. A warning to those who like their hair long: I think Mona is a bit scissor-happy. I guessed as much from what was already posted here, but I boldly decided to let Mona cut my hair in whatever style she thought was best because she had gotten such great reviews. Mona herself has awesome short curly hair. So I went from BSL hair to halfway between APL and SL. I guess she did a good job on the cut, but I wasn't happy with the way she styled it at all. One thing I did get out of this haircut was information on my hair's properties, which I've had a hard time figuring out.. although I'm a little unsure about her advice because she was telling me my scalp is greasy and that my hair is of medium density, and it doesn't look like that to me at ALL. And the biggest surprise: I told Mona I had been on the Curly Girl method for a month, and she gave me a confused look and said, what's the Curly Girl method? I would have thought that a stylist who has been recognized on nc.com would know what CG is! I said it means I don't shampoo my hair, and then she knew what I was talking about. Then she told me that the method probably wouldn't work on me because I have medium-textured hair. So I'm sad to say I'm still looking for the right stylist for me. Perhaps Mona is best for short, type 3 hair.
Mona really knows her stuff!! I never received so many conpliments before I started seeing Mona! She does a great curly cut and the color is always what I expect. You can tell that she is very good to all of her customers. When I go see Mona, I feel pampered and Lofty's atmosphere is so serene, I can't help but smile the whole time I'm there!
I used to live in the DC area and still go back to Mona when I can make the 10 hour drive out there. She does a great job with curly hair, and her salon is very nice.
She is the ultimate stylist! I prefer Mona to take artistic freedom on my hair at every appointment. She never disappoints! -S
I just finished getting my hair cut and colored at Lofty for the third time and could not be more pleased. I have been thinking about finding someone new to do my hair for years. After reading the review on Lofty Salon on this site, I decided to take the leap. My hair looks great and is easy to manage for the first time in my life. I get so many compliments on my hair. I highly recommend Mona and the entire staff at Lofty. My husband bought me a gift card to Lofty for my birthday and I got a massage. Matthew the massage therapist is great.
I love what Mona has done for my hair. This is another awesome review for Lofty. A neighbor referred me to Mona over 3 years ago. My hair has never looked better. Mona was the first stylist to teach me the best way to care for my hair at home. I look great walking out of the salon and the six weeks until I return. The whole staff is wonder. I always leave feeling relaxed and looking great.
Mixed reviews. I was a few minutes late but had called ahead. Receptionist was gracious on the call and in person. It was a tranquil salon, but I was kept waiting for a few minutes;we had a consultation. I think she is honest, but perhaps a bit interested in pushing products before we even got to a cut. She worked on me for a bit, then on other clients, and continued this back and forth. Though I was offered refreshments (water, tea, wine, cheese/crackers) while I waited, the one-hour appointment kept me there two hours (she did apologize saying Saturdays were tough days). She did right cutting my hair while it was dry to see the curl (many hairstylists don't know this trick) and she did bring the curl back into my hair. However, the style is unflattering (to give credit, she said I didn't have a lot of choices given how my hair was--recovering from an episode of fall-out and breakage from undetermined causes)...I look like an elderly woman with a bad perm. Perhaps I will think differently after I wash and style it myself. So all in all, not sure if I would go back. I must say, her own hair (curly, attractively styled) is a good advertisement for the knowledge she professes about curly hair, but who cuts it? That might be interesting to have found out.
I have struggled with my (3B) curly hair since childhood; common story here, I suppose! Finding someone who understands curly hair and can cut it has been a challenge. Usually I end up asking other people with curly hair who their stylist is and that is how I found Mona. We had recently moved to Northern Virginia and I had put up with a stylist, who did NOT understand curly hair, for too long. Two years later, Mona has always taken her time to find out what is working for me and what is not. She goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I am happy with my hair and it fits my lifestyle. I feel like the products she has recommended really work with my hair. If I was unsatisfied I am certain that Mona would do whatever she could to make things right. She listens to what I am saying, offers good suggestions and never takes artistic license. I appreciate Mona's expertise, her ethics and her commitment to her customers. I highly recommend Mona at Lofty Salon.
I've been on a several-year odyssey of various stylists since moving from California to Virginia, so I feel I have a pretty good basis for comparing stylists that work with curly hair. I have 3a curls framing my face, but other areas of my hair are more wavy than curly. And since having a child, my hair texture and curl pattern have changed and presented me with challenges. I was very frustrated until I found Mona, who has really worked wonders with my hair! I finally have a cut that is both easy to care for and totally maximizes my natural curl. The first four stylists I saw other places, after moving to the area, struggled with my hair, even though I stayed with each of them through a few cuts hoping they'd learn how to work with me. It seemed I was always ending up with weird boxy cuts or tons of product in my hair that weighed it down. I look back at pictures during the time before I found Mona and I am still bothered by how unflattering the cuts were. This included a frustrating stint with a high-priced salon that did a quidad cut, which is terrible for my hair, but Mona took the time to really work with me and find a cut that suited my hair from the first time I came into the salon. My hair can be temperamental, so it really requires the stylist to know what they're doing. It is so easy to care for now, and the curl has returned, finally! Mona really knows how to work with curly hair, and I couldn't be happier!
I went to Mona at the beginning of this month for my birthday. My husband surprised me after I suggested this salon after reading such rave reviews. I must say I am completely disappointed. I have kinky-curly hair with a lot of shrinkage but a definite curl pattern. When I arrived @ the salon there was a huge sign in the window stating ”Curly Hair Expert”. If someone claims to be an expert they should be able to style any curly head, not just waves and large curls. I spent 3 hrs of my day at the salon, 2 of which were spent attempting to comb out my hair when it was almost completely dry. At one point there were three people attempting to comb it out at once. About 30 min into the combing out process, Mona told the shampoo girl that she should use detangler. Shouldn't your staff know this already? As the catastrophe unfolded, Mono never spent more than 5 min on my hair at a time. My hair became a frizzy fro when she finally decided to condition it again and add styler to it. I ended up with semi defined curls and by the time I got home one part of my hair had white, dried clumps of product in it and the other side was frizzy and drawn up. The next day I did my usually routine which takes only a few minutes to comb my hair out w/o any tangles, a total of 15 min. from start to finish. It took a good week to get my hair back to normal because of all the damage they caused from combing it out practically dry. I also received highlights and a trim, which was ok, but the state my hair was in when I left the salon, the money and time I spent, was NOT WORTH it. I have lost faith in hairstylist especially those who claim to be something they are not.
Mona is a curly hair genius! She gave me a haircut yesterday and it looks great! I have extremely "big" hair, and she cut it so that it actually falls in a flattering way. Thanks, Mona...I look hot!
I went to Mona two days ago after reading all the wonderful reviews. Well, I disagree. I went in there with a difficult hair situation. Half my hair was curly and the bottom half still was straight from the Japanese straightening. I wanted the straight cut off and a new style. Before even finishing the consultation she starts cutting clumps of straight hair off. OK, maybe she wants to see what's left. No, she proceeds to cut into my hair. She grabs clumps so big that she can barely get the scissors through it. She sees my face and asks me if I'm panicking. Well, yes I'm worried. I tried to tell her my hair has extremely tight curls, especially the shorter it is. I ended up with a helmet. So to correct it, she decides to give me a Pixie cut, but that is uneven and lumpy. Yesterday, I went to Christy at Salon Red in Gaithersburg. She fixed it as best as it could be fixed but now I have no freaking hair. When I called Mona to ask for a refund, she refused because I shouldn't have let her fix it. Would you return after that initial experience? If you go to Mona, go with caution!
I have been a Lofty client for about a year and a half. My hair has never looked better. Cut and color are consistently excellent and Mona is great at suggesting flattering styles that are easy to maintain. If you have curly hair, Lofty Salon and Mona are simply the best.
I just wanted to add another favorable review of Mona from Lofty Salon. My very fine hair is thin and ringlet-y on a good day, but a change in diet, a new medication, and a normal shedding cycle had left it looking frizzy, stringy, and very thin, and the self trims I'd been doing weren't helping. I took the advice of the other reviewers here and made an appointment to see Mona, and I'm very glad I did. Mona suggested going much shorter to allow the new growth to catch up, while giving me a thicker-looking style. She asked me a lot of questions (and answered all of mine) before picking up the scissors. I woke up this morning with hair so much happier than it was before I walked into the salon - it literally looks three times as thick as it did before the cut. I've never had this amount of volume, and the curls are already returning. I really can't recommend Mona enough!
I'm really late giving this review...I actually saw Mona last month and she was great! I had the best experience there. I, like many of you, had the worst haircut EVER and on top of that, I tried to lighten my own hair...BIG MISTAKE! Mona not only fixed the color and gave me subtle highlights i wanted, but she gave me the best cut I've ever had! I'm not exaggerating. I literally do not have to spend as much time styling my hair as I used to. I am so happy I read all of these wonderful reviews and went to her. I even have an appt. today after work for color...can't wait!
Another rave review for Mona! After seeing all the reviews here, I made an appointment. First, I loved that she TALKED to me before wetting or cutting my hair. She asked me questions about the products I use, how I style my hair, my routine, and what I wanted out of the cut. She told me what she thought about doing, I okayed it, and we started. The cut is excellent - my curls have bounced back and look really great, and my hair has some shape to it. It feels healthier than it has in a while. She also did a really nice job styling my hair, twisting my curls into shape and lightly diffusing so it would air dry quickly. And she wasn't pushy with products. She talked to me about my shampoo, since what I was using was pretty bad and she could tell, but she didn't end up pushing a shampoo on me (I asked her for a rec). And she said she would email me product recommendations if I wanted - no pressure to buy them in the store. Overall, LOVE her. I styled my hair myself today and it looks even better than the day she cut it - love the cut, and will definitely go back!
Mona is a miracle worker! I have tried every "upscale", "special technique", "recommendation from everyone", etc., under the sun, moon and stars! Nothing and no one have ever helped me walk away feeling truly great about my hair! Thank you Mona! If you want a fabulous experience - so see Mona!
Yesterday, my hair was pulled back in a messy ponytail. I had made the appointment for 12:30 but got there an hour early. When I entered, the receptionist was very nice and didn't make me feel guilty about being early. She had me sit down on the very comfortable couch. The salon was empty, so it took no time at all for Mona to come out and ask me to come and talk to her. We had a conversation about my hair and what my lifestyle entailed. She gently touched my hair and told me what length would look good with my face. I had no reservations about short hair and told her to go for it. She had her assistant shampoo and condition my hair (which took no time at all). Then I sat in the chair and Mona piled all of my very long wavy hair on top of my head. She started very slow and meticulous in the back and took her time (which was only about 15 minutes). I loved my hair even before she started the styling process. I was surprised it only took about 30 minutes for the entire procedure and was able to get back to work early. I was very impressed with the warmth of the salon and especially the people who work there. I love my short hair style, and look forward to keeping it like this for a while. Thank you Lofty salon!
I've been going to Mona for the past 2 years and I'm way overdue for a review! I have very curly hair, and not many stylists even knew how to approach it, which was very frustrating. I never have to worry about that issue with Mona because she knows my hair and cuts it beautifully each time. She also gives me fabulous and natural looking color AND knows how to do a mean blow dry. She's continually educating herself on new techniques and has great ideas for the care and maintenance of curly hair. I highly recommend Mona and Lofty Salon. Last time I went I even got a free chair massage! Plus, Lofty is always holding fun community events for worthy causes like breast cancer. The salon's relaxing atmosphere and Mona's superb hospitality makes going there a real treat.
I've had trouble with my hair most of my life. Its wavy and frizzy and very thick. For the first time, I found a stylist who gave me the best haircut and style as well as color and highlights that I can manage and it looks amazing!! I constantly get compliments on my hair and I couldnt be happier. Mona is amazing with both haircuts as well as color and I highly recommend her services to anyone that wants a great experience as well as great hair!! Thank you Mona :)
Mona is a gentle genius! After having read all the reviews for her salon, I decided to see if she could put an end to years of frustration with my natural curls. I love my curls, but didn't know how to manage them. Her gentle and calm demeanor put an end to my frustration. She gave me the best hair style and cut of my life. She listened to what I wanted, to my daily routine and lifestyle and calmly explained what she was going to do. I felt she gave me her full attention and wanted me to be entirely happy with the result. I was and I am. I have had so many compliments on my hair cut. My curls are very happy. Mona, here's another hug!
I get my hair done with Jenny at Lofty Salon, in Vienna. She is amazing at coloring, highlighting, cutting, and especially in blow drying any type of hair especially curly hair. When I walk out I am just amazed at how my hair is and all my friends love it. She has a way of cutting curly hair that it has a way to fall and have low maintenance if I want to do it myself at home between the times I go to her. My hair is healthy and sleek, and it grows back healthier with her way of cutting. I have about 4 or 5 friends that have the same experience and absolutely love it. She also recommends the best type of highlights that will fit you well.
Mona is really an artist. I went for a hair cut 3 weeks ago and she was wonderful. I had dry, puffy hair. I tried Pasant at Red door spa. The first hair cut was very good, but my next hair cut was nothing short of a disaster. So in my quest for the perfect manageable hair, I decided to try Mona before resorting to a hair relaxing treatment. She cut my hair really short. I was surprised at how reducing the lenght of my hair really helped me manage my hair better. She took great pains to find the correct phyto products for me. Thanks to her, I have a wonderful summer haircut.
A few months back I felt I needed to get a trim. My long curly hair was loosing its novelty. I had read the reveiws about Mona every time I logged on to the naturally curly website, so I thought I'd give the salon a try. I made an appointment on-line and before leaving for the appointment I had my husband and son snap s few pics of my hair at its longest length. Mona was gracious and polite. Our conversation resulted in a complete style change! I had been reluctant to have anything more than a trim for over 5 years, and I am now a permanent client of Mona's. At my 4 week 'check up' Mona was able to take notice of how I was maintaining the style, what rate my hair was growing and whether I was satisfied with my haircut. I am so happy with my hairstyle! I am no longer hiding behind my hair! Mona has given my hair its own unique, classic look, one that is mine alone. The style is so easy to maintain. I actually feel beautiful for the first time in my life, without having to do this or that to my hair! My husband was shocked to see my hair gone, but loves the new me. He continues to comment on my look, and has noticed a new pattern of postive changes in my life. I had my son take some after pics so we could compare them to the before pics. What a difference a cut makes. Sure I can have a head full of long 's' locks like so many others, but now I am 'free' from the tireless hours of trying this or that product to get rid of the frizz or which kind of clip will hold all that hair without breaking and pass for looking just ok. Besides, my old hair was donated to Locks of Love which helped make the switch a bit easier. Mona is an expert, a master hairdresser, an artist. Her confidence and gentle techniques reach far beyond the golden standard for excellence in her field. I have already returned for an update (trim) and look forward to my next appointment! Thanks Mona!
I also concur with the positive reviews about Mona. I went to her specifically because of the reviews here. During my consultation with her, she listened attentively to my needs and in the end, my cut turned out exactly as I had hoped. There were a few things that surprised me though. I had expected she would cut my hair dry (I made a note of it in my online appointment and would have appreciated a call in advance to let me know she wouldn't cut it dry.). During our consultation, she said she never cuts dry hair. Also, for quoting one of the rave reviews here on Lofty's website, I expected she would at least be familiar with the Curly Girl protocol. She said she had never heard of it. She was quite surprised to hear that I wash with conditioner and clarify with homemade remedies and not shampoo. (She kept encouraging me to shampoo at least twice a week to exfoliate my scalp.) She wasn't familiar with my reasons for avoiding sulfate shampoos, proteins and 'cones but she seemed eager to learn. I assume my hair was washed with a sulfate-free shampoo. Mona instructed her assistant not to use conditioner and perhaps she did so because she didn't have a 'cone-free conditioner to use. After my shampoo, while I waited for Mona, I had the opportunity to read through the ingredients of the products at her station. Practically all of them had 'cones and proteins. The only one that didn't was the Phyto curling spray, which is what she used on me. After the cut, I was a bit apprehensive when she started blow-drying my hair without a diffuser (albeit, on low). During the blow-drying, she briefly excused herself to attend to another customer and asked her assistant to continue blow-drying my hair. The assistant switched the dryer to high and I asked her to stop because it would straighten my waves and make my hair frizzy. Mona picked up on this right away and the assistant stopped blow-drying my hair. I continued to scrunch my hair until Mona returned. Mona put a diffuser on the dryer and dried on low while scrunching my hair. She blow-dried it until it was completely dry. (I diffuse rarely and only until about half-way dry to reduce frizz.) All in all, I'm very happy with the cut Mona gave me. Even with the non-CG experience at her salon, my waves are much more defined and the out-of-control layers of my previous 'straight' cut were blended in nicely so I will definitely be seeing her again.
I went to Mona based on the recommendations from this site. She did such a great job with my hair that I had to overcome my aversion to posting anything online and confirm that she is great. She gave me a much-needed cut and highlights. Both are amazing. She took the time to understand my curls and how I wear my hair, and to match my highlights to my skin and hair coloring. It's great. I live 2 hours away from her and will definitely make the trip for my next hair cut/color. What makes it even better is that you can book your appointment online and see all the available times...no more back and forth with a receptionist!
Recently I went to Lofty to have Mona cut my hair for the first time after reading all the wonderful reviews on this web site. It was a great experience all the way around. The staff at Lofty are warm and lovely, as is Mona herself. The atmosphere is classy and confident, but you'll find no snobbishness here. I had looked for someone for a long time who could and would make suggestions about what my options were and what would work best for me. After talking with Mona, I did something I never do -- told her to do what she wanted -- and let her cut 11" of hair off. She had totally won my confidence and I don't regret it a bit. If you are looking for a true stylist and a great cut, go see Mona.
I found out about Mona through this site, and she did a great job. I always know that I have a good haircut when it still looks great on the second day. Mona listened to what I wanted and gave good, useful advice - no promoting of products, lectures on how often I should get my haircut, etc etc. Her salon is comfy and relaxing, I totally recommend her if you live in the Vienna area!
Mona gave me a wonderful haircut...I have tried many stylists in the past and have had great difficulty locating one who excels at cutting curly hair. Mona has curly hair herself and truly understands how to properly cut it. The first time I went to her, I relied on my gut instinct in trusting her and decided to let her use her judgment in adding some shorter layers to my curly hair (against what was always told to me by other stylists). As nervous as I was, I was so very happy with how it turned out. My hair no longer looks poofy and really looks great! It is easy to style and I love it. Mona is also great at coloring hair--what took some stylists over a year to master (the specific color of red that I wanted), she figured out is one session. WOW!!
I first hear about Mona from this website. I had been to nearly every stylist in this area and was yet to find someone who understands my hair. My disappointing trips to the salon result in an uneven haircut that I paid way to much for. Many to claim they are curly hair experts I have yet to meet someone who really understands curly hair. I have long thick curly hair, which I have been wearing long with layers for over 10 years now. Stylists I have been to tell me I can't do much different with my hair besides add a few more long layers( unless I was willing to live with out of control hair) or unless I was willing to permanently straighten my hair. I went to Mona explained that I was desperate for a change. She listened, studied my hair and face asked about my lifestyle and gave me a custom haircut. She cut my hair to my collar (about 12") and cut several layers which framed my face perfectly and complimented my curls, and not only was my hair not out of control (as other stylist claimed) but it was easier to manage/style. I love my new hair style and I get compliments for everyone I meet. Not just compliments about my curls, because lets face it everyone with curly hair gets compliments on our curls, but compliments on my hairstyle how it compliments my features. Mona is truly an expert in curly hair, she has years of experience and curly hair!!! I have never felt so happy and satisfied after a haircut!! I have been back already and will continue to go back. Thanks to the reviews on this site I found someone who is truly a curly hair expert.
The other reviewers are right, Mona is fantastic. I was looking for just the right stylist to cut off my 14” ponytail for Locks of Love and Mona was that person. As soon as I mentioned I wanted it all cut off, she asked if it was to be donated to Locks of Love, before I breathed a word of my intention. Before she started cutting, she took enough time to get to know me; as a result, my haircut matches both my lifestyle and personality. 14” isn’t a small amount to get cut, but everyone I know (most of all me!) loves the cut and says it suits me. I’m so glad that I found Mona and Lofty Salon. It was well worth the nearly hour’s drive from my house. Now that I know how good she is, I’m astounded that she even takes new clients and isn’t booked up for months in advance! She’d be well worth the wait, though!
Need to make a hair appointment and feeling guilty for not sharing my great experience with Mona as I had intended. My haircut looked great and for days later people kept stopping me in the halls to tell me how great my hair looked. It is so easy to style and has grown out beautifully. Also loved the product she uses, Llanz, and intend to buy tons at my next visit.
I went to get my hair cut shorter than I have had it for the last 5 years and wanted to get someone who understood curly hair. I have gone to many salons who don't understand how to cut curls and have come out very unhappy with my haircut so I try to only do haircuts after I can't stand my hair any longer. I read so many good reviews of Mona that I decided to go try her out. She was very nice and gave me a great cut. She put in a treatment, did a great cut and styled it for me. I will make sure my next haircut is with her. She does a great job with the haircut and doesn't charge an arm and a leg.
I usually keep my hair very long. I wanted to try a new hairstyle, and I had read all of the good reviews of Mona and Lofty Salon. Mona gave me a great haircut that looks good both down and up. I will definitely go back in the future.
I have been going to Mona for several years and have followed her when she opened Lofty. I have always gotten great haircuts and Mona has excellent ideas about new styles for my hair. She really knows how to cut curly hair! I have started bringing my two daughters to have their hair cut as well. I would recommend Mona to anyone with curly hair.
I just got through having my hair cut and colored for the 2nd time by Mona of Lofty Salon in Vienna, VA and have to rave about it. I had been battling with straightening my hair for a couple of years and finally had enough. Mona expertly knew exactly how to cut my hair to make it look fabulous in any kind of weather (high humidty included)! On vacation at the Beach, I was out shopping and had to provide my driver's license as proof of identity. The clerk looked at my picture (my hair had been blown straight) and she remarked that I looked so much better with curly hair....Kudos to Mona for making having curly hair a bonus rather than a curse! I love my new 'do and recommend giving Mona a try.
Just got back from having my hair trimmed by Mona at the Lofty Salon in Vienna, Virginia. Mona is an expert; she explains what she is doing and why she's doing it. I was very impressed with her. She's just opened her own salon in Vienna and talk about treating me right and I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg. A cut and blow-dry is $50 (as of 3/06. Further, I've been to Melissa at Salon Bleu and she is also good but the salon is pricey for a hair-cut and blow dry, which is $80. My next haircut will be by Mona. She was thorough, nice, very calm, and has curly locks as well. I highly recommend her to anyone that's got curly or even wavy locks that wants a great experience.
After reading the review on this site (naturally curly) of Mona at Lofty Salon, I decided to give her a try. This was a big step for me, because as after many bad haircuts I had let my hair grow long in order to at least have some control over it. I am very, very pleased with the personal attention I received and with my new hair style. Mona listened to my needs and designed a hairstyle with my busy schedule in mind. She also took the time to explain different options and techniques. I am so pleased that I found Mona and highly recommend her.
Mona HAS curly hair and understands it. I had visited almost every salon in Vienna before finding someone who could handle curly hair. I can go 5 to 6 weeks between haircuts. Before I found her, it was 3 to 4 weeks. I have lived in Vienna since 1977. I found Mona about 3 years ago. I had lots of bad hair days before meeting her.
