Curly Girl - stop reading now.  Slam your laptop lid down.   Go see Callie.  Seriously.  Like NOW.   I am so glad to have found the reviews for CL2 and Callie here.  I have worn my hair naturally curly for many years and never been able to find a stylist who knew how to cut it properly.  So I resorted to cutting it myself which over the years has left me with a shapeless limp mess of curls.  Callie spent so much time with me.  You get more than a haircut from her.  It's like a total hair makeover.  She plays with your hair for a while to see how it hangs, the condition it's in, how does your scalp look, etc.  She asks you what you are hoping for with your cut, what your styling regimen is, and really gets to know you.    She cuts hair dry which was a first for me but she could really see how each section of my hair behaved when doing so.  After the cut I got a good wash and she took extra time to show me how to style my hair with various scrunching techniques (she also takes time to tell you what NOT to do in order to avoid frizz, damage, etc.).  She counseled me on products, coloring techniques and answered tons of questions that I had.  In the end I left with these amazing bouncy, springy, healthy curls that I was actually able to reproduce on my own thanks the all the tips and techniques she showed me.   I will return to see her as long as she is in business.   Thanks to all the curlies who took the time to review her.  I hope this review will be helpful to another curlie friend in the area and please go see Callie.  She has curly hair herself and seems to really specialize in it - which is hard to find.   I wish I could give her 10 stars.  Love my new do!

I was a little hesitant to get my hair cut at a new place, so I emailed a list of questions (i.e. do you cut wet/dry) and she answered right away. When I went to the appointment, we talked a little about what I wanted (which wasn't crazy, because I'm just trying to grow my hair out long) and I brought my own products (she doesn't have jessie curl at her salon). She did a dry cut, and then shampooed (with my shampoo) and then put in a deep treatment and left it in while she did a touch-up wet cut. Then she washed the deep treatment out and conditioned with my products. Then she did another little touch up cut, she used scissors with extremely wide teeth and explained what they were for (debulking but not destroying a curl) and only used them in areas where I needed a little lift. Then, I styled my own hair with my own products, and she diffused. She was very friendly and helpful, and explained what she did to her own hair, and the types of products she used herself. Out of all the salons in New Orleans, she knows how to cut curly hair best (I've tried most of them) although she never had any formal training in devachan or ouidad.

Callie is absolutely the best stylist I have ever met! I know this sounds unbelievable because of her ratings already, but it's true. As a naturally curly girl off-and-on my whole life, I have been to COUNTLESS horrible stylists at both down home and expensive places. Callie was able to fix past mistakes and style my hair! Callie made me feel not only confident in my hair, but she taught me so much in the time I got to sit with her, and now my hair is something that I love so much more. I'll be making an appointment for a coloring soon!

I know everyone on here describes their experience with Callie as "amazing," but it's true! I first went to her to fix an unfortunate cut that was killing my hair. She took her time and did a wonderful job. Now my hair is healthy and happy and curly again. Second cut a few weeks ago was even better. So glad I found her!

CL2 Hair Studio Category: Hair Salons Neighborhoods: Uptown, Black Pearl 5/23/2012 First to Review If you have curly hair, run, do not walk, to see Callie at CL2. Not only did she stay when I accidentally showed up on the wrong Friday evening for my appointment, she took time to talk to me about what I did with my hair, what I wanted, and how I could handle it better in the new Orleans humidity. All that, and I got a FANTASTIC cut. Anice S. (yelp.com)

After reading the review about Callie, I decided to try her out. Knowing I was a first time client, she booked more than enough time to answer some questions I had about my curls and share some tips about handling New Orleans weather. Having curly hair herself she's aware of troubles and woes of finding someone who can cut and color curls without straightening, and she isn't crazy about making you crunchy or greasy with products. She works by herself so I had to book my appointment online and wait for an email back as a confirmation, but that was ok. The salon environment was cool and laid back. The one on one attention was different for me since the salons I usually visit have at least eight people working along side you. The shampoo was great and she really seems to love curly hair and being a hairstylist. The review read Maple street but she has since moved post Katrina to Adams street, which is around the corner from where she was.

After reading a review for Callie, I decided to try her out, and I'm so happy! Callie really does know her stuff and teaches you about your hair type. She tells you what she does each step of the way so you can do it on your own. Her hair is beautifully curly, and she respects that each curly head is different. She gave me the best haircut I've ever had! No more trimming the ends and having no style. I have a thinning hair problem on the scalp, and the cut helps give an illusion of thickness. She really helped me love how my curls are part of me and to stop fighting with them. I thought I knew my products, but she used opposite of what I would have, and she was right! My curls were definied and my thinning hair looked so much fuller. The salon is very calming and welcoming, and even though I live 1 1/2 hours away, it's worth going to there! Thanks, Callie!
