THE MANE OF MY EXISTENCE Having lived through almost 60 years with frightfully unmanageable curly tresses, and having had dis- appointments with scores of hair stylists on both Coasts, I was ready to embrace something less maintenance- oriented than two hours of blowing, pulling, flat ironing and stressing – all for no reason once I walked outside and my hair morphed into a frizz bomb - in any and every type of weather! NO MORE APPLIANCES Then in 2004, a woman with curls handed me 3 little bottles of products with a hilarious matching book that might resemble my future autobiography – and my hair care as I had known it was transformed! I became a client at DevaChan and a devotee of Lorraine Massey’s Curly Girl products. After a few years, haircuts in Soho became inconvenient and increasingly expensive. I researched and found local salons that carried the Deva product line, and took field trips to visit, buy products and check out possible curly stylists. I had several stylists cut my hair; but even though they marketed the products, agreed to cut my hair dry, and indicated they knew the technique, it turned out they weren’t really Deva trained. One trendy, highly- experienced Sassoon trainer actually brushed out my hair before cutting it. Talk about East to West! EEK! CONNECTING At long last, I found Erica in 2008 while hunting down Deva products in salons. Her curls looked very different from my curls, so I was hesitant. I saw her several times and spoke about my curls and she educated me about the product choices. Erica was always extremely nice, patient and knowledgeable – and then came the closer: “I have everything we’ll need. We will talk about what style you like for yourself and perhaps look at pictures before we begin, and include anything else that will make you comfortable. Oh, and I charge 40% to 50% less than going into the City.” HOLY CONVENIENCE, BATMAN, I AM SOOOOO IN! Erica has been my one and only Curly Girl stylist since then. She listens to my hair stories, my fears, my exasperations and understands from the roots to the tips! We’ve explored various styles and lengths, had tons of laughs and become friends. I recently found a list of ‘things only girls with curly hair understand,’ and one line stood out. “You can never try a new hairdresser. Once you find one that works, you’re bound for life, or until they move.” I’ve never looked back – except in a mirror to admire my curls! Thanks, Erica!

Erica is just wonderful! I have curly hair and used to go to a famous curly hair salon in Manhattan where it cost a fortune. I was lucky enough to find Erica who was trained by them. I am thrilled!! She knows how to cut all types of curly hair so it always looks its best. She is not afraid to share styling secrets so I can easly style it myself. She will also color if requested. Erica comes to your home with all that is needed so it is like a private salon. Her appointments are done with your convenience in mind. I now do not have to have cuts as often because of her cuts - she really is the best hairdresser I have ever had. You will be as happy with her services as I (and her other clients) am. To reach her call 732-890-7494 - you won't be sorry. I have been using her for almost 2 years and, unlike the others I have used, will never change again.
