I've been going to Urbanbella and for a few years now, and my hair has never been better. Initially, I used products they recommended, like Hair Rules, but now I use their own product line. In particular, I love their Stretch + Twist + Curl Cream (No. 10P) and Hydrating Moisturizing Cream (No. 23 ) and use them almost every day. My hair has combination texture, from curly/wavy in the front and top, to dry/kinky on the sides and in the back. The combination of these 2 creams makes the my curl pattern consistent and "moist" looking, and I always get compliments from *strangers* asking me if my hair is naturally curly like that, or what do I use, or otherwise, my friends try to play with it constantly.

My experience at Urbanbella was great. They were prompt with beginning my session and I was in and out in two hours. I got a shaping and fingerstyle. The stylist gave my hair a very cute shape while retaining much of the length I've acheived and she gave me the best fingerstyle that I've ever had. I will be booking at Urbanbella from now on!

Brittany was very sweet and knowledgable about what I was getting done when I came into the salon for my appointment. She was very personable and we had a lot in common, conversation with her was not awkward or forced as it sometimes can be when you are at a salon. I was pleased that she even went as far as to suggest other hair styles that she thought would fit me. When I asked her for more information she was able to deliver an answer without any hesitation. I love Brittany at Urbanbella in Atlanta, GA. I can't wait to go back again and either go back to Brittany or meet more of the staff.

I had a great experience at Urbanbella. I had been there before for a consultation for me, one for my daughter, one of their informational events and I buy products there. It is pricey, so I hadn't been for services until this week. They had a special on shaping, color and finger styling. It was still pricey, but worth it. Everyone there was courteous and helpful. The stylist asked what products I used and I told her I was open to using something new. We had a good discussion about what color I wanted. She explained what she was using and how. She didn't much length off at all, just gave me a nice shape. I got exactly what I was looking for. The worst part about Urbanbella is the pricing. The fact I have a lot of hair and got all-over color added to the price. I'll go back again, but I will be looking for specials.

I have Type 3 naturally curly hair and recently decided that I would embrace my curls for the first time in my life. I initially went to Urbanbella with intentions to buy Miss Jessies products (which is hard to find many other places). I chose this place because it was one of the few that sells this product and stays open until about 6 pm, which is late enough for me to make it after work. When I walked in, there was one employee to assist customers. She was on the phone, but acknowledged that she'd be available to assist me shortly. She was very nice and knowledgeable about the products, so much so that she convinced me to schedule an appointment for a 'Shaping and FingerStyle'. When I arrived for my appointment, although there was another customer already having her hair styled, the door was locked. I found this a bit strange, but I only waited approximately 1-2 minutes for someone to unlock the door for me. I filled out a form that asks info about hair products used, hair care habits, etc.., (which I didn't see the purpose of in the end). After waiting about 20 minutes, I was brought to a chair where I had my hair combed out, while I was asked a few questions about my hair. I shared my whole hair history, mistakenly thinking that this was my stylist for my appointment, but no, she was only the 'comb out person' the first of many people to touch my hair that day. After she combed my hair, she brought me to the shampoo bowl, where yet another person came to wash my hair. I had to ask myself: *Why would they comb my hair out, only to wash it 1 minute later anyway??* That was pointless. My hair was in its natural state and the same before and after the wash. Anyway, 'the shampoo girl' asked me more questions about my hair, which also led me to believe that she would be my stylist for the day, but no, yet again, she wasn't. After being brought back to the styling chair and sitting there for 25 minutes with a dripping wet head that was drying and frizzing by the minute, I was finally approached by my stylist, who barely said anything to me the whole time. She wasn't friendly, didn't seem to care much about anything, and didn't really want to be there. She cut my hair, while it was half-dry and frizzy. She took off about 3 inches, although she said it was 1 inch. Now my prior visit, I was told that they do a strand test, give you hair care advice, test and advise you which products to use for your hair type, but no, they didn't. The stylist chose one product that *she* wanted. She didn't see what worked best. She had to bring me to the shampoo bowl again to wet my hair, then put the product in and had me sit under the dryer for an hour. After looking at the results, I was not happy. I relayed my unhappiness and she didn't care much to do anything about it. In the end, I walked away having to do my hair all over again by myself, at home, having spent $90 to wait for extended periods, had 3 or 4 people in my hair (who I'm sure I was expected to tip all), had a big chop which should have been a trim and had product slathered in my hair and called a 'style'. I payed approximately $200 total with the products. I will not be back.

As a woman of color who knew nothing about caring for her natural hair I was beyond excited to visit Urbanbella. I had an appointment for a hair consultation and style. When I walked in the salon I almost knew I would have a wonderful experience. The décor is first class trendy beauty and I love it. However, I was very disappointed and have never been back to the salon. My one and only salon visit was in January, 2009. That is when I decided to care for me much better than I had been doing. I started with my hair. The BIG Chop. I must say that Keneesha Hudson the owner of Urbanbella, is a sweet heart, lovely vibrant personality that shines through. For her staff I found them to be rude and non caring of the customers. I arrived for my appointment about 10 minutes early to find the salon closed. It was opened about 15 minutes late. The stylist who gave me my consultation and style was not knowledgeable at all, if she was she didn’t show it. I got one word responses to my questions. This was a new journey for me and I toiled for years deciding whether to go natural or not. She was less than helpful. I got more help on you tube honestly. She gave me a Hair Rules book to look at , cut off my split ends, picked my hair into an afro and that was it. I said several times that I was interested in trying a particular brand name product in my hair. She ignored me and said nothing, put in my hair what she wanted to use. Picked my hair into a fro, gave me a prescription for my hair and said bye, come back in 8 weeks for a trim. So I picked up my belongings and went to check out only to be hit with a whopper of a bill $280. Hair cut $90, deep conditioning $50, products $90, consultation $50. I put my wig back on and left. I have never felt so bad leaving a salon. I have found a stylist in Smyrna, GA at Salon TLC located inside the Salon Suites on Spring Road, her name is Corinda Johnson she is wonderful. I like to wear my hair in two stand twist, occasionally she will press it for me. My hair has grown like a furry in the past few months Corinda has been caring for my hair. It is thick and healthy. I love the fact that Urbanbella exist. Since there are many women with curly, kinky, tightly woven coils who have hair challenges, this is a nice place to go if things were better in the way of prices and client interaction with stylist. This is a Buckhead salon catering to natural hair, something most stylist don’t do. It’s supply and demand. Again lovely ambiance and that’s about it. I was really disappointed in my Urbanbella journey.

I went to this salon on for a consultation. I have bought products from them, but never had a salon service. When I arrived there was no one at the counter to greet me, so I had a seat and ended up sitting there for twelve minutes. Apparently some one heard me come in because she reacted as if I was disturbing her when I approached her and told her I had an appointment. She then told me that some one would be with me shortly (apprx another 15 minutes). Please know that the whole time I waited, I could hear the staff's entire conversation about the singer Prince. When the consultant took me to a hair station she informed me that she would be using different products on my hair. She used about five different products on small sections of my hair that she wet with a spray bottle. She then set a couple of small sections on different sized rods and sat me under a hooded dryer. When she came to get me to sit back at the hair station she removed the rods and asked which section I preferred. I gave her my assessment and she walked away only to come back with several products, which she recommended I purchase. To my surprise that was it for my hair. So there I was with my hair all over my head with several small sections with product, and two other sections basically straight because they were set on rods. I looked a mess! Thank god I wore a hat, and I would suggest you wear one also unless you want to spend an absurd amount of money to have someone style it for you. I would not recommend the consultation. You'll probably be better off setting up an appointment with a stylist and asking them about the products they are applying to your hair while they are styling it. I don't plan to go back to this salon or purchase products from them because of the inattentive service.

Let me start off my saying, Urbanbella is a beautiful salon. The decor is absolutely stunning, and it should be because the prices are absurd. When I booked my consultation, I had to give my credit card info so they could secure a $50 deposit. I was told to come with my hair in it's natural state (curly), so I did just that. On a Saturday afternoon, I went in for my consultation. When I got there, the consultant which was not a stylist proceeded to spritz my hair with water and apply numerous products to the sides of my hair. I looked like a wet puppy! She recommended two products, but I didn't purchase them because I wanted to book an appointment with a stylist. There was no way I would buy something so expensive and not even know how it would work. I booked another appointment with a stylist, and my initial $50 deposit was credited towards my next service, the two strand twist which I was told would be $90. I then asked if she would apply more of the product to my hair because there was no way I wanted to go out with my hair like this. Remember, it was a Saturday, and I still had things to do. She refused, and I should have known then not to come back. The following Tuesday, I went into the salon, and the stylist said that in order for my hair to curl like the picture on their website, she would need to cut my straight ends. Per the stylist, the Dominicans had straightened the ends of my hair too much. She also kept asking me if I had a relaxer. No, No, No...I would think that a trained stylist would be able to tell if I had a relaxer. I allowed her to cut my hair, and she proceeded to layer and cut three to four inches off. She did the two strand twist, and when it was dry, she removed them. My hair looked nothing like the photo, but she said it would take about three days before it would be the way I wanted it to be. I patiently waited and waited, and on the fourth day, saw no better results. I called them and was told to take yet another trip to the salon. The stylist twisted my hair again and then said she could not promise my hair would look like the picture. Well, let me say, I wish she would have told me this before I spent $190 ($80 for the cut and $110 for the two strand twist) and about five gallons of gas at $4/gallon. Notice I said $110 for the two strand twist, I was given the wrong price when I booked the appointment and was pleasantly surprised when I got ready to pay. They refused to honor the price that was quoted to me by the consultant.

Okay! I found this wonderful, wonderful place just for curly girls here in Atlanta! The stylist Kristen James has partnered with a retailer that specializes in products just for curly hair! I couldn't believe it until I went in to see for my self! After Kristen gave me a amazing cut and deep treament the Urbanbella personally walked me through how to apply my products ( of course Devacurl) when I am at home to have great hair with no frizz! My hair is been so much better since! You have to try them! They are in Buckhead and so easy to reach! 404.255.5022.
