- Jessica Evrist
Mar 27, 2012 - I was tired of fighting my big, shoulder-length 3A hair, so when my stylist retired I looked for a curly hair specialist. Searching Google and Yelp led me to Jessica Evrist. I found California Styles to be a very attractive salon with a calm, nurturing vibe. Jessica explained that before she'd cut my hair she would wash and deep-condition it, then dry it with a diffuser to see the natural curl pattern. I decided then and there to trust Jessica to convert me to a Curly Girl. During the deep-conditioning process, Jessica handed me a copy of "The Curly Girl Handbook" and encouraged me to read some passages she'd highlighted. That provided a good orientation to the techniques and types of products that make the most of curly hair. I left the salon with soft, shiny curls that looked better than I ever thought possible. Plus some DevaCurl products and a new copy of "The Curly Girl Handbook." Jessica encouraged me to buy them only after I inquired; she did not pressure. It's been a month and I just booked my next appointment with Jessica. I'm still adjusting to life as a CG, and there's no one I'd trust my curls to more than her.
