CurlyCooper's Latest Salon Reviews

Indulge Salon - Overland Park, Kansas, United States
Stylist:
Nicole Maere

Oct 22, 2012 - Just came from my first cut with Nicole, and I am ecstatic! If you take anything from this review, let it be this; she listened and made cutting my hair look so EASY! And after 24 years of curly hair cuts, I've never had anyone cut my hair without at least a tiny bit of complication. She cuts it dry, while it's styled the way you wear it-- Amen! She was all ears when I said I was growing my hair out from a previous hair hack, and trimmed off the minimum needed to get my hair back to the shape I like, and the health it needed. Some of my favorite things about Nicole; - She admits to being "conservative" when it comes to cutting. She will NOT cut off more than you want! - She understands how you want your curl to look and won't force anything on you. Said she hates when stylist do what they want, not what you want. - She has curly hair and is DevaCurl trained, so she knows what's up! - Didn't push or guilt me into products I can't afford / don't need at the moment. - Didn't charge me for a wash or style since my hair was cut dry and didn't need to be washed or re-styled! I was out of there in ONE HOUR-- that never happens! - The dry cut ensured she cut the curls the way they actually are, and no shrinkage! Overall, I found her to be knowledgeable, trained, understanding and a good listener! My hair looks healthy, lays great and I still have my length! I am sticking with her!

Stylist:
Ginger

Aug 13, 2012 - Ginger cut my hair back in May and I've been spending all summer waiting for it to grow back. She seems knowledgeable about curly hair, but I don't feel like she listened to what I was asking for. Especially disappointing since I brought pictures, and rambled on and on about my likes and dis-likes. Also . . . the smell of incense gives me a headache. I have very curly hair, but I like to keep it long to style in a softer, more relaxed manor. On this particular hair cut I even went for fringe bangs to pair with long, soft curls. Unfortunately, she cut off a lot of my length, gave me straight fringe bangs, then used curl enhancing (not relaxing) products and techniques to give me a Shirley Temple style. It probably goes without saying, I looked and felt ridiculous. Like a poodle with bangs. I used my own sheers over the coming month to get back the shape I like as it grew out. I am glad she encouraged me to try to Deva Curl products. The low/no-poo products have been great for my hair and I'll never go back to the "Poo" products. Ginger could be your girl if you like super curly hair. Not sure if I'll try her again, I wasn't reassured she was listening to what I wanted.

Stylist:
Jayme

Mar 05, 2012 - I thought Jayme was great. She listened to my long and sorted, love/hate relationship with my hair and past stylist. She understood what I wanted, and although I've had stylist in the past tell me it wouldn't work, she made it happen. She was friendly and helpful, and very considerate of how I wanted my hair.
