MylahMusic's Latest Salon Reviews

Curltopia - Smyrna, Georgia, United States
Stylist:
Aliah

Apr 22, 2011 - I went to Curltopia today after being delighted to find there was a salon near my home that specialized in curly/kinky textured hair. I actually had made the appointment in person a few weeks back and loved the decor and the vibe of the salon then. I made my appointment with Aliah and was very excited to cut my hair, as I've been transitioning for the past 6 months. After reviewing the prices (a tad pricey, but I'm a believer in "you get what you pay for") I was a little unsure of what services I wanted to get. After Aliah and I discussed my options, I opted for color and she suggested flat twists. The color went well and the shampoo was great! She then put me under the dryer for my deep conditioner which was for 15 minutes, but I ended up waiting for around 30-45. That wouldn't have necessarily been an issue if I hadn't needed to pick my infant up from Day Care. That would be my only gripe. She did a wonderful job flat twisting my newly colored hair, but I was unable to sit under the dryer (waiting baby!), so I left with wet hair. I'm sure when I take the twists down tomorrow, I'll like my hair but it would've been nice to have it styled by Aliah, just in case I don't know what I'm doing :) All in all, I'll definitely go back, but maybe not as much as I'd like to just from a budget/time standpoint. Aliah was very nice, worked with my hair with ease, and gave me a list of products to try that I'm sure will be helpful. I'll also tell all my natural/curly haired friends about this salon!

To be there 4.5 hours, spend $160 and leave with wet hair didn't make me overjoyed, but Aliah was very nice, worked with my hair with ease, and gave me a list of products to try that I'm sure will be helpful.
