DevaCurl Mist-er Right

Aug 21, 2014 - It took me a little while to get the hang of this, I didn't like it at all at first. If you really need to heavily wet down second day hair, use some water first, then the mister right. The key with this, at least for me, is that I can't use a lot of it. What I usually do is hold the bottle at a distance from my hair, and spray each section so that the product falls in a mist over the hair instead of hitting it with force. I find this gives me even coverage. Then I smooth a bit of a non-sticky gel on my hands, and scrunch the curls. That's it. The other benefits of not using too much of this product are that it lasts longer, and the smaller amount means a less overpowering smell.

Herbal Essences Set Me Up Gel Max Hold

Jun 19, 2014 - This was the first gel I tried after starting cg, and it's awesome. It helps my curls clump, combines well with other products, is perfect for smoothing over and scrunching second day hair, and has a light refreshing smell. It dries with a nice reassuring crunch which is then easy to scrunch out. I can always find it on sale, and if I'm travelling light, I can use it alone to style.

Kinky-Curly Curling Custard

Jun 19, 2014 - I started using this last summer, took some time off from it in the winter, but have gone back to it this spring. I've used either the kckt, Giovanni leave in, or desert essence curl cream under it, all with success. My hair is waist length when wet, and I apply a quarter size blob of the custard to each half of my hair right in the shower. I use either brhg or HE smu over top, scrunch with a microfiber cloth, and pixy diffuse till 80% dry. Once I scrunch out the crunch, my curls are defined and springy while being soft to the touch, and I can easily refresh them for the next three days or so.
