Jun 04, 2012 - Three members of our family go to Oasis Salon because the women there give great cuts and color, and no drama. I highly recommend Mi Mi for cut and color. I am over 50 with gray to manage, and a mousy base color in the first place. I wear my hair in various stages of short to shorter. Mi Mi listens to what I ask for on that visit, and has given me natural looking color that grows out well. Everyone in the salon is friendly and helpful, so that I feel relaxed and rejuvenated when I leave. She's also done a great job on my daughter's shoulder-length hair. Mi Mi is also a lovely woman, inside and out. My husband uses whatever stylist is available when he wants to go in, since his schedule precludes booking much in advance. His hair used to frizz, so he kept it very short. Now it's got great defined curls, no matter the length. All three of us have been using the DevaCurl products for years, which make a huge difference in the manageability and curliness of hair. It moisturizes without weighing down, and doesn't have the silicones that will smooth temporarily, but soon are damaging. Oasis is aptly named. Even the music is great. Jul 08, 2010 - Jesslyn knows how to cut and color curly hair, and the salon itself is a pampering experience. She has DevaCurl training in cutting hair dry, which results in a style that lasts for months. I have fine hair that also needs gray coverage. The salon itself is clean and nicely decorated. The shampoo station chairs massage your back, and they have a new-fangled heat-lamp style dryer that rotates around your head like the rings of Saturn. I emerged calm and well-styled.

Oct 29, 2009 - Michelle Sullivan, formerly of the Mermaid Salon, has swum out on her own. Michelle is a curly girl herself, who knows how to bring out the best in your curls. She did a great job there, but her new location in the Rancho Peñasquitos community of San Diego is even better. She will also travel to you. Your hair gets pampered, and there’s no sensory overload from competing dyes, bleaches, or shampoos from lots of clients in one big room. Michelle has been cutting my hair for more than three years. It was always a mousy brown which needed some highlights and a richer background. Now it’s got more gray, and she does a great job of covering that too! She cuts my hair dry, which is recommended by the top curl stylists, but hard to find. She has training from DevaCurl, and others-- Toni & Guy (TiGi), Aveda, and Vidal Sassoon. She is well-trained in products too, and has taught me what works with my fine hair, which can get weighted down with the wrong stuff.
