La Bella Lots of Curls Gel

Jul 02, 2015 - This is a good gel! I only need a small amount to get medium hold with no crunch, and it cost less than $3 at Rite Aid. The smell is very light and pleasant and isn't really detectable in my hair after it dries. It works well both when I air dry and when I diffuse and doesn't take forever to air dry. Only con is that the sorbitol in it is a humectant and can give me slight frizz in humid weather.

Kinky-Curly Knot Today

Jun 09, 2015 - This just doesn't have nearly enough moisture for my dry, porous, 2b-2c hair when used as a leave-in. The ingredients are CG but very minimal - just one or two very light moisturizers and a handful of fruit extracts that I suspect are there solely to impart fragrance and give it a "natural" aura. I've repurposed it as a second-day refresher, used in tiny dabs in places where my hair seems to need a little moisture boost, and it works OK for that purpose. But any thin conditioner would do so, so it doesn't make sense to pay 12 bucks for this when Suave Naturals and V05 conditioners are so much less expensive and more readily available at drugstores.

Curl Junkie Repair Me! Reconstructive Hair Treatment

Jun 08, 2015 - This is a protein treatment for curly hair, and a damn good one. Most protein treatments require you to follow them up immediately afterwards with a deep conditioner, but this is so moisturizing that you can skip that step. It smells wonderful, restores curl and reduces frizz when my hair is craving protein (generally, I can tell that it needs protein when the curl starts to lessen and my hair feels very soft but is really frizzy no matter how much I condition and moisturize it). I apply it to clean, wet hair, comb it through with a wide-tooth comb, then put a shower cap over my head and let it absorb while I wash and shave the rest of my body. Afterwards, I rinse it out, and it works in that short a time, although of course you can leave it in longer if you feel your hair needs it. It's pricey but well worth it - the bottle is huge and I only need to use it about once a month.
