Mar 08, 2012 - I have 3c curls and desperately needed a haircut. I had that triangle effect going on with a good amount of heat damage due to many years of using the flat iron. I had never cut my hair before other than trimming my ends and so I was nervous to go and have someone cut it. I made an appointment with Kathy and told her my issues. She was very attentive and listened to my concerns. I told her that I didn't want to go any shorter than to my collarbone. After we finished with the consultation she went to work. I must say that I LOVE MY HAIR!! She gave me a beautiful haircut. She then washed my hair, conditioned and styled with the Devacurl products. When I left, my hair was big (I love big hair with lots of volume) and beautiful. She was able to give the volume I like without my curls being frizzy, they were very well defined. I have had so many compliments on my hair since then. It's like I have different curls. I will definitely be going back in 3 months and I can say that I have found my new curly stylist. In addition, the staff there overall are just really nice and friendly. They make you feel comfortable which is something I needed since I was so nervous about getting my first real haircut. If you are in the Hampton Roads area and are looking for someone who can rock out your curls, I recommend going to Rudy and Kelly Hair Salon on S. Battlefield Rd in Chesapeake and check Kathy out. She definitely made me a client for life!

Mar 02, 2012 - I have tight, corkscrew, 3c curls and scheduled an appoinment to get a devacut with Kathy. I had some severe heat damage in certain places and wanted as much cut out as possible without losing all of my length. I told her the shortest I would go without having a heart attack was to about collarbone length. Unlike some stylists I have had in the past, Kathy did not try to convince to me cut off more. She did exactly as I asked and gave me a BEAUTIFUL haircut. She then washed and styled my hair while explaining the curly girl method, one I was familiar with and following to a degree (using no sulfate shampoo and staying away from silicones). When she finished, my curls were AMAZING!!! I will definitely be going back in a few months to cut out the rest of the damage. I have definitely found my new curly girl stylist. I had soooo many compliments on my hair as I was leaving the salon. If you live in the Hampton Roads area and want a knowledgeable stylist to help tame your curls for a reasonable price, stop by Rudy and Kelly and ask for Kathy. She has definitely gained me as a permanent client.
