Matrix Total Results Curl Super Defrizzer Gel

Jul 05, 2012 - 2b waves • normal/low porosity • medium density • fine width • medium (shoulder) length • moderately protein sensitive I'm not sure what to make of this gel. It is rather unremarkable. It isn't tacky/grabby and it doesn't provide any hold for my limp waves. On the other hand, it makes really nice clumps and plays well with re:coil, KCCC and BRHG. It is hard for me to say whether it does a great job of preventing frizz because my hair isn't particularly frizz-prone. I do get some halo frizz and scrunching-caused frizz sometimes, but this seems to prevent those. It seems to work as well as CHS CK, but it is thicker. It seems like it would be hard to over-do it. I like it. I'm not sure if it is placebo effect or not.

Jessicurl Rockin' Ringlets

Jun 17, 2012 - 2b•fine•low-porosity•protein-sensitive I had high hopes for this product after using epsom salt water in a spray bottle to "activate" my waves. I've had a difficult time figuring out how much of this to use on my hair. I didn't observe much curl enhancement unless I used a lot of it, and when I did use enough, my hair would get oily and weighed down. It does provide some clumping enhancement, but with the way it makes my hair droop, the drawbacks outweighed the benefits. I get better clumping with other products, without the heavy, oily droop. Compare/contrast: I've also tried AG re:coil. I had better results with that, but it left me a little fuzzy. -- If you have porous hair with a lot of natural body, you may love Rockin' Ringlets.

Melissa

Jun 21, 2012 - I have fine 2b hair (normal porosity and elasticity). I had my hair cut on April 5th 2012, and just a few short weeks later I discovered my waves. I went to Melissa just to fine-tune my cut to cooperate with my new wavy style. Melissa is a curly girl herself, and was doing curly-cuts long before she went to Deva school. She has been active on NC.com from its infancy and is in tune with the latest curly girl product and technique buzz. She knows her stuff and she's very good at what she does. She didn't just cut my hair, but she gave me loads of styling and care tips. Melissa is simply fabulous. If you live in MI/IN/OH you must make the trek to see her! She's worth the trip. A+++
