Oct 29, 2012 - I've been going to this salon for at least a year and never had any complaints. However, my last experience was a nightmare. The stylist that I regularly saw left and I saw a new stylist, Karen. When I made the appointment, I told that receptionist that I wanted someone who knows how to do African American kinky coily hair. She said that every stylist is trained to do all types of hair. Wrong! Apparently Karen missed that training. I only wanted my split ends trimmed and she cut off a good 2 inches. She kept mistaking frizzy parts of my hair for split ends. After shampooing my hair she didn't know how to de-tangle it. She kept yanking and pulling it apart. She also didn't know how to define my curls. After she was done my hair was white from all the conditioner she left in there, extremely short, frizzy, and no curl definition. Also, their were parts of my hair that were tangled when I left. I can't believe she thought this was acceptable. She kept trying to tell me that's how my hair is. The whole thing cost $85. When I met up with my friends and family they said that it looked a mess. I had to end up washing it in the morning. I regret not talking to the manager. My intent is not to bash the stylist or the salon, because they have good service and I've seen them do a good job on other types of textures. I'm just mad that she didn't say that she didn't know how to do my type of hair because it was a waste of my time and money.
