Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue Conditioner

Oct 23, 2009 - My hair is a mixture of medium/coarse texture, with high porosity, normal elasticity, and high density (very thick). As I mentioned in my review of the MGA shampoo, this MGA conditioner is very moisturizing, which seems to balance out the squeaky, stripped feeling I had from using the shampoo. It does take my hair much longer to dry when I use this conditioner as well. From reading other people's reviews, the MGA products seem to help with an itchy scalp, but unfortunately didn't help eliminate mine. I really like the MGA styling gel though.

Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue Shampoo

Oct 23, 2009 - My hair is a mixture of medium/coarse texture, with high porosity, normal elasticity, and high density (very thick). This shampoo left my hair feeling stripped and squeaky. In Curlmart, it says the shampoo is sulfate-free, but I found sodium C14-16 olefin sulfate in the ingredient list, which from what I've read is a surfactant curlies should avoid in shampoo. If you use the Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue conditioner, which is very moisturizing, it does seem to balance out the effect of the shampoo, but I'd rather have a gentler shampoo for my hair, even though I really like all the natural ingredients in the product.

Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue Styling Gel

Oct 23, 2009 - I really like the definition this gel provides. My hair is a mixture of medium/coarse texture, with high porosity, normal elasticity, and high density (very thick). This gel seems to calm my hair down, and the ingredients don't seem to be drying or cause problems with repeated use. It's also organic with lots of natural ingredients, and free of silicones, parabens, sulfates, and glycerin, and I like the natural "plant" fragrance. For 2nd day hair, the gel refreshes well if you spritz it with a spray bottle filled with water.

James Allan Salon - Austin, Texas, United States
Stylist:
Ethan Shaw

Aug 02, 2008 - I have very thick, dry, 3a curly hair that I used to style straight most of the time until I moved to Austin two years ago. Since then I've been to three different stylists and have gradually been growing my hair longer, but really felt I needed someone who specialized in curly hair. After searching the Naturally Curly website for salons in Austin, I made an appointment with Ethan Shaw, about whom I had read many positive reviews on this site. After my experience, I would definitely recommend Ethan for a haircut, and color as well. He gave me a great cut and took a lot of time and care in explaining to me how to work with my hair, and he's a really nice guy too. With my former stylists I had never really liked the way they styled my hair curly, but Ethan seemed to know just what to do with my hair and got it just right, and that's a high compliment from a hair-obsessive like me! I'm really happy I decided to go to Ethan and will definitely be returning to him in the future.
