Curl Junkie Repair Me! Reconstructive Hair Treatment

Sep 23, 2013 - I LOOOOOOVE the smell of this product! Whenever I'm in need of a curl boost, this lives up to it's name! I have fairly short hair, so my hair underneath layer is barely wavy - the hair is too short to finish the curl. After every use I notice my curls spring up more and my wavy underneath layer clumps together better and starts a slight curl. I highly recommend this! I have very thick hair and don't need to use a lot of product like I normally find I need with the cheaper, more watery products. It's a little on the expensive side, but it seems it will last me quite a while.

Posh Salon and Color Bar - Wheaton, Illinois, United States
Stylist:
Annette

Oct 15, 2013 - I’ve been searching for a Deva stylist for a couple of weeks, and the only thing holding me back was the price. The area that I live in seems to be super expensive, without actually going into the city, which I don’t have time for. I originally opted for a stylist who worked from home that was recommended to me from my friend. She totally butchered my curls and went crazy with the thinning shears without my permission or me knowing about it before she started. I emailed Posh Salon and Color Bar to ask about the Deva cut. I mentioned my gluten sensitivity and Annette was willing to work with me, without doing the whole styling ordeal with the Deva product since the majority of them contain wheat. I was scared to death of what I might walk into after having been butchered just days before. She made me feel very comfortable, and I could tell right away that it was going to be a great visit! She took the time to ask me lots of questions about what I don’t like, and what my ultimate hair goal is. She knew the steps to take to get there, and that’s exactly what I need. I trusted her right away and could tell she knew what she was doing right off the bat. By the end of my visit, I felt like I had known her for a while, and left a happy camper! As for the actual cut – I went in looking completely damaged and torn up, and I left looking like I had a whole new head of hair! She was unsure of whether or not she should cut anything, but we both agreed that it would be beneficial to give me a small cut and let me leave at least feeling a little bit better about my hair. I couldn’t believe the transformation, she is an excellent stylist who knows curly hair. I feel like I have found my soul mate stylist. Annette is completely amazing and I highly recommend her! Trust me when I say it is better to pay for an expensive GOOD haircut, than pay to get butchered and then have it fixed after the fact. I can’t stress this enough, I learned the hard way.

Shanda Horst - Nachusa, Illinois, United States
Stylist:
Shanda Horst

Oct 15, 2013 - I was referred to Shanda from a friend, and had never met her previously. I spoke to her on the phone and told her what I was looking for - a dry cut for curly hair, no razor, and I wanted a scissor cut. I needed my hair blended in the front, because I had odd pieces that were longer than the rest of my hair. I am growing my hair out, so I didn't want any length taken off. I asked her if she would feel comfortable with this, and she said yes, and talked about curl shrinkage, etc so I figured she might know what she's doing. So I get there, and told her pretty much the same thing. I showed her the part of my hair that I needed to have cut, and I showed her a picture just for reference of how I wanted it blended, even though I thought it was pretty self-explanatory. I thought she understood what I wanted. She then mentioned that my hair looked really heavy, and before I knew what the heck she was doing, I looked up after a few chops and saw the thinning shears! My heart sank, as she did NOT tell me she was going to use thinning shears, she didn't ask my permission, nor did she tell me that she was even starting to cut my hair. She started in the BACK of my head! I told her I only needed the front part touched, so I'm not sure how that translated into thinning the entire bottom 2" of my hair without my permission. My mistake, I let her do her thing, since it was too late anyway - there was a chunk taken out of my hair. There was no method to her thinning at all - it was chop chop chop very fast in random places, and I could see a look in her face like she just hated my thick hair and needed it out of there. I still have flashbacks, it was like something out of a curly-haired nightmare. Now I'm stuck with extremely uneven hair that won't curl properly. I just got my hair healthy with the CG method, and now it looks damaged again. It's very frizzy and the ends stick out in the worst places imaginable, and I've lost my good curl. The only reason I didn't give her 1 star, is because she seems pretty knowledgeable with what kinds of products to use in curly hair, but she doesn't understand curly hair AT ALL!! I feel like she lied to me and said she understood just to get me in her chair. After she was done, she sprayed orange well water in my hair. Needless to say, I went home and showered. That's when I realized how much she butchered my hair, and I literally cried and didn't smile at all until I got it fixed with a Deva cut 3 days later.
