- Marni Foster
Oct 23, 2012 - I was hesitant to spend so much money on a haircut because I've been pretty unhappy with my hair and it didn't even cross my mind that a haircut could solve my issues. Long story short, it totally did. The haircut, advice, tips/pointers, and product that Marni gave me is the best salon experience I've ever had. I saw her a week ago and my hair has looked amazing every single day since. While she was working I was feeling doubtful, she inspected my hair, asked some questions, and since my hair is long and was hanging over the back of the chair, actually got down on her knees on the floor to cut it. The cut only took her 5-10 minutes and I thought, oh man, she didn't even do anything, I'm going to pay someone $60 for something I could have done at home. I was so wrong. Marni took me to wash my hair, talked to me about what kind of shampoo to use (she used one kind, took a look at my hair, decided she didn't like it, and washed again using a different one), taught me how to use products, clips, a non-terrycloth towel, etc., and then air-dried my hair under the drier. I loved that she listened to me when I said that I am not willing to spend more than 5 minutes on my hair. When she took me back to the mirror and showed me how to take out the clips and shake my hair out, I couldn't believe it. My hair looked totally gorgeous and it has every single day since. I can't stop looking at myself in the mirror. I've taken a picture of it every day to make sure I'm not just imagining that it looks good. I thought Marni was friendly but not super talky, which I appreciated. She let me know what products she was using and why, but didn't push me to buy them. I had no clue how to care for my 2A hair and she showed me all the way from how many times a week to wash to the finishing touches. Yes, she was expensive at $60 plus a 20% tip, but I will gladly pay that every 4-6 months for beautiful hair than pay $20 every 6 weeks for hair that I hate.
