Jul 07, 2011 - I am long overdue in writting this review of Emily. I have lived in Austin for 8 yrs and have been to numerous stylist that I have found on this site. I have 3B hair. Bar none she is the only stylist I have gone to that I feel is consistant and current with both her cut and color. I feel she just has the natural ability to know what is going to look best for your face. Emily is also the only stylist that has been able to style my hair. Everyother stylist I have gone to I go home and redo my hair but not with her. I feel so confident letting her do what she feels is best. The best part is she sweet, fun and there is no attitude or ego which seems to be hard to find. I also love the fact that she is the only one who touches my hair, no separate person who washes, colors, and styles. Her salon is so peaceful, a definite get away for me each time I go. I would HIGHLY recommend Emily, I always look foreward to getting my hair cut as know it is going to look great.

May 30, 2008 - I first of all can not figure out why Ron Valdez does not have any reviews on this website about him?? I discovered Estilo Valdez salon highlighted on this website and also in the review from the Austin Chronicle "Best of Issue" as the best salon for curly hair. Not only is Ron Valdez a total sweet heart but he is an amazing stylist. I have lived in Austin for 5 years and I feel like I have finally found the best stylist for cutting my curly hair. I have been to numerous people who claim to be trained in a certain curly hair technique but i think it just boils down to a stylist who developes his craft and has a natural ability to know curly hair. I also wanted to comment on the color. I have not been to a salon that uses Redken color before and I love this product. It is so much shinny then any others and this is the 2nd color with them and it did not fade as quickly. Melinda did my color and she was great also! I just can not say enough wonderful comments about this salon and the people that work there. Everyone was so friendly and the environment is so pleasant. I am so happy I found this salon. An additional note, this is also the first curly hair specialist that did not break my bank, what a treat. I would suggest anyone who is having difficulty finding a great stylist go see Ron.
