Stylist:
Jackie

Mar 10, 2011 - I moved to the D.C. Region less than 9 months ago and have been looking for a new stylist since. My last out west, I religious saw for nearly ... well a long time. ; ) Well, I'll be looking no further. Not the cheapest cut I've ever had, but I wasn't crying the day after and I was MORE than pleased with how well Jackie know's her way around a head of curls. I've got 3a or 3b curls depending on the day and humidity level... I don't try to hide them, and I love my curls. I want to be clear, I'm not fan of fad, trends and of the minute cuts. So you can keep your deva only cuts and unhealthy keratin treatments. I tend to land somewhere in the middle on things, in that I quality so if that means learning more than one way or technique to your trade (stylist, etc) makes you better in what you do, wonderful! But I'm not going out of my way for some dry cut I've got to retouch every four weeks or less. Wt% Anyway, Jackie just knows a good cut. I'd probably pass on the style afterwards, but like any relationship and any women/person will admit this... a good stylist you follow and establish a relationship with (because... ha! you may end up knowing her longer than more disposal areas of your life :) and you communicate what works and what doesn't. With a stylist, if you a good basic foundation... i.e. you can cut my curls so they look amazing when the air dry, I work with the rest. I would definitely recommend Jackie as a stylist! Best of luck in your search. : )

Mili Salon - Arlington , Virginia, United States
Stylist:
Cori

Mar 10, 2011 - My review is similar to others experiences with Cori. As sweet and kind as a person as she is, I really wanted to like her as a stylist. Unfortunately, this wasn't to be. I moved to the D.C./NOVA area a month before finding her on naturallycurlycom and deciding to give her a try. I will say I did put Cori at a slight disadvantage since I didn't have my hair fully done that day, and it was partially pulled back. So you know, depending on the day I have a 3a or 3b hair type. I'm also not the type of person that fully subscribes to any trendy, of the moment insert "x" here. So I don't go out of my way to find someone who "only" cuts the deva way or some other non-sense. I think learning multiple ways to cut an already difficult type of hair, most definitely makes you a better stylist. But please do no sell me some kind of crazy this way or the highway nutters.... I'm just not buying what your are selling, but thank you. For months after the hair cut Cori gave me, I was bitting my lip not to curse her in the mirror every time my sides fell into my eyes or all the bobby pins I now had to use to pull it back and keep it in place. You see, I was in the process of growing my hair out, which I kindly explained to Cori and even though my hair was not in bad shape it was cut much, much, much shorter than we discussed. Needless to say, I won't go back and allow her to touch... let alone cut my hair. I found a new place. Feel free to view my other review if you want a referral. Best of luck in your search regardless. : )
