Carols Daughter Sacred Tiare Anti-Breakage and Anti-Frizz Restoring Hair Mask

Jul 24, 2014 - I didn't like this. Although it's creamy and even alright for detangling, it didn't moisturize my hair. It just made it feel slick (because of the silicones), but not softer or moisturized.

Carols Daughter Hair Milk Co-Wash Cleansing Conditioner

Jul 24, 2014 - This co-wash only contains gentle, gentle cleansers (like those found in most conditioners) yet it also has silicones. It claims to cleanse the hair while actually depositing leave in. It does leave the hair really soft and doesn't strip at all. I wouldn't recommend this for cleansing.

Scott Musgrave Hair - Cary, North Carolina, United States
Stylist:
Scott Musgrave

Oct 19, 2016 -

I wanted to leave another review for Scott, as a follow up to my last one.

First off, if you can't get an appointment with him, maybe don't bash him online, and just look into finding a different curly hair stylist? There are many in the Raleigh-Durham area; there's no reason to be vindictive.

Anyways, I wanted to review my 2nd hair cut with Scott. Over the years I have come to realize that I need to be way more assertive when in the stylist's chair, so that definitely affected my last review which was years ago.

I asked for a trim and some shorter pieces to get more volume. He is great at communication and I never feel like my hair is at risk in his chair like I have felt with other stylists. He really trimmed my hair so I could keep growing it out- I think he took off about 1/2 an inch. In the past I have gone to stylists that take off multiple inches when I ask for a trim!!! (Ah!) And then he put in some shorter pieces just as I asked, and worked the rest of his magic.

This time I also showed him a photo of the style I wanted, and while he was cutting the shorter pieces I mentioned specifically that he could go shorter. He mentioned that he doesn't like to be aggressive with the short pieces unless a client asks for that, since most clients do not want the extra volume, which totally makes sense. I love my hair cut and I'm really glad I went back to Scott for this cut. I've learned by now that I need to be more specific in a stylist's chair (because I am extremely picky), and I need to come in with a concrete idea of the style I want for my hair so I can communicate that to the stylist.

Scott also styled my hair and gave me some tips for my particular problems like halo frizz and wanting more volume. He also gave me some new ideas for different products I can use. I am a huge product junkie, and I've been doing my own hair for 10 years now, so it was refreshing to get new information I could use from a stylist! And I left the salon with my hair looking awesome, which is a major plus for me because I didn't have to go home and bother with re-styling.

I've decided to only trust Scott with my hair cuts from now on as I grow out my hair. He is an excellent listener, and this was the best cut and style experience I've had so far. This is after trying several deva stylists and curly hair specialists in different locations. If you're looking for a curly hair expert in the Triangle, go to Scott.

ADC Hairstyle at Salon Sabeli - Cornelius, North Carolina, United States
Stylist:
April

Aug 23, 2016 -

I had been to April several times for haircuts while I lived in this area. They were not too expensive, and pretty good devacuts. However I stopped going to her after my last haircut with her when she decided to comb my hair out dry! She had never done this before  and I really felt it damaged my hair so I wont be going back. Guess she switched up her methods for the worse. Cut was still good, but combing curly hair dry is a huge no-no!

Kellie Gates - Durham, North Carolina, United States

Kelli Gates

Jan 09, 2016 -

I went in to Kelli after reading the good review on here. Over the phone she assured me she was a trained deva stylist and cut hair dry.

I asked for 1/2 to be cut off and short layers and volume. She cut off about 3 INCHES and gave me a short tapered bob, when I had said I wanted to GROW MY HAIR OUT... She also decided to use a curling iron on my hair once it was dry and styled. I'm not sure why... especially after she had finger coiled my hair completely during wet styling. I probably wont be going back. The cut is perfectly fine, but I didn't feel like she listened to me at all so I was rather disappointed.

She is located at Hot Headz Salon.
