Karl Lagerfeld and Blake Lively

Karl Lagerfeld and Blake Lively

I can’t say if this is normal or not, but a few of us here at the NC Headquarters have what borders on obsession for all things “Gossip Girl.” Since we haven’t had a new episode to dissect in far too long, we are turning to the stars who play our favorite characters, and their regular lives (if you can call them that”>. Blake Lively has just been appointed as the new face of Chanel’s Mademoiselle handbag collection, as reported by WWD last week.

This comes as no surprise, as Karl Lagerfeld has been swooning over the glamazon for quite a while now, even telling WWD that she is “a kind of American dream girl.” Well said, Lagerfeld! I have to say that I completely endorse this match made in heaven, since Miss Lively is one of my all-time favorite curly girls (I think she falls in the 2c area”>, and I can’t quite get enough Serena…er, Blake, in my fashion mags, and can’t wait to see her sporting the ultra-chic line of bags.

Lively was equally enthusiastic about the campaign, explaining to WWD, “How did Cinderella feel when she slipped on the glass slipper? How did Snow White feel when she met her Prince Charming? A dream come true is an understatement. I can say that I feel like the happiest, luckiest girl around.”

I will be waiting patiently for these new campaign shots to crop up, but until then I will have to settle for a night at the movies with Leighton Meester, who plays an up-and-coming country music star in the movie “Country Strong.” Who can resist cowboys in tight jeans?
