Bun

Day two of the Essence Music Festival Celebrations was an absolute B-L-A-S-T and filled with lots of natural hair goodness.  The day started off totally with a torrential downpour and we waited until it was just a drizzle to hit the pavement and make the rounds to the suites and events around town.  While dozens of attendees scrambled around Downtown New Orleans with plastic bags wrapped around their heads, NaturallyCurly strolled the streets sans umbrella or a worry–one of the BEST parts hands down of being natural!

The first stop was at the African Pride Suite where immediately upon arriving we ran into Afrobella, leading beauty blogger and naturalista, and Aevin Dugas, Guiness Record Holder for World’s Largest Afro.  The African Pride Beauty Suite was filled with all styling stations for all textures of hair, and lots of fun photo opportunities.  We snapped a picture with Q from 112 and lots of natural hair blogging friends such as Adrienne of Me, My Hair, & The City and Gabrielle of StrawberriCurls before heading over to be interviewed at the Curly Cam station.  After receiving a sneak peek at African Pride’s newest product launch I snagged a quick interview with Afrobella before we headed back over to the W Hotel.

This afternoon the Motions Style Bar presented a Tweet-Up hosted by Lexi With the Curls and Danielle of The Style and Beauty Doctor.  While attendees sipped on Motions Margaritas and nabbed great goodie bags, the dance floor was lit up by “The Wobble” and MC Lyte performed a crowd-pleasing set.  After the Motions Style bar we headed over to the Carol’s Daughter Pop Up store where we interviewed Lisa Price, Carol’s Daughter Creator and Founder, who let us in on her styling tips for managing curls in summertime humidity.

All in all it was an action packed day and we’re so sad that this is all coming to an end tomorrow.  We’ll be hanging tight at the FierceFlyFabulous event so see you there!
