Supporting black beauty brands is very important to me as a beauty blogger because I love helping others, especially black entrepreneurs. A lot of the beauty brands cater to their consumer’s needs, and many of them use all natural products. In the beauty industry, there are so many black beauty brands on the market from hair, skin, makeup, nail polish and everything in between. Here are a few ways you can support black-owned beauty businesses.

“Girls and women of our race must not be afraid to take hold of business endeavor and, by patient industry, close economy, determined effort, and close application to business, wring success out of a number of business opportunities that lie at their doors.” -Madame C.J. Walker

1. Like & Follow Them on Social Media

Social media is filled with thriving and flourishing black-owned beauty businesses. When you find a product you love, spread the love by tagging them. This helps bring more awareness to their business and build an online presence to connect with more people who want to learn more about the brand.

2. Buy Products, Without Asking For a Discount

Buying the products of your favorite beauty brands should be a no-brainer on how you can support black-owned beauty brands. Just like any other innovative product, you have to pay for it. So when black-owned businesses do create a great product, respect their work and appreciate their service by supporting them.

3. Give Honest Feedback

If your favorite beauty brand does not carry a product for your needs, let them know. If enough people talk about it, they might develop it based on consumer needs.  The more feedback you give,  it could help them gain more insight and support your needs. Leave reviews and share your experience.

4. Show Up & Show Out

Black-owned beauty businesses host events and expos all over the US and abroad. If you find out about a local event or expo, show your support by attending the event. Invite your friends and stop by their booths to learn more about what their brand has to offer.

5. Spread the Word, Tell a Friend

Word of mouth is still one of the major driving factors in helping to support small businesses. So if you find an amazing product share the excitement with your family and friends.

It is so great to see so many entrepreneurs following their dreams and creating products and getting recognition in the beauty space. So when I find a product that I like, I share it, if it’s black-owned its a plus!
