NaturallyCurly: When did you start embracing your curls?

Estefani: I started embracing my curls in 2007 after my last relaxer and a traumatizing salon haircut experience. Basically, I asked my hairstylist to cut my splits ends, and she ended up cutting several inches off my hair. My straightened hair was around my shoulder, so you can imagine how short my hair looked curly. Ever since then, I remember telling myself to never cut my hair in order to make sure that I retain length. I also told myself that I would no longer be relaxing my hair to prevent breakage or fallout.

What’s your daily hair routine?

Estefani: My daily hair routine consists of protective hairstyles. Since I wash my hair weekly, I try to do hairstyles that are going to last until my next wash. For example, twist outs, braid outs, wash and go’s, and buns.

What’s your nighttime routine?

Estefani: My nighttime routine usually consists of the “pineapple” and a satin head wrap or scarf. This prevents my hair from frizzing and knotting overnight.

What are your go-to styles?

Estefani: My go-to styles are usually a simple wash and go, a low or high bun and my favorite, a perm rod set.
