Are you looking for a new, unique updo for the holidays? You are in luck–I’ll show you three simple hairstyles that are perfect for the season.

What you need for each hairstyle:

  • A hair tie (seriously, that’s it!”>

1. The 1-Minute Updo

  1. Set aside curls that frame your face as your bangs and put the rest of your hair up in a ponytail.
  2. Gently pull the hair tie about an inch or two so your ponytail hangs loosely.
  3. Create a pocket by poking a hole through the hair and tucking the rest of your curls in that hole.
  4. Secure the pocket with bobby pins, if necessary.

That’s it! Too easy but so chic! If you’d like to smooth down stray pieces, use a light oil or some shine spray.

2. Coiled Twists

  1. Separate two sections that frame your face and put the rest in a ponytail.
  2. Braid each side section–it helps to braid towards the back, that way it won’t look lumpy when we wrap those pieces around your ponytail.
  3. Secure each braid with a little bobby pin so it doesn’t come undone.
  4. Take each braid and wrap them around the ponytail and secure them with a bobbypin.
  5. With the hair in the pony, begin to twist each section tightly.
  6. Right when you can’t twist anymore, take the very end and pin it around the ponytail. Toward the end, the twist will sort of curl on its own.
  7. Repeat these steps with more sections of hair and pin the ends around the ponytail at random places. If any coils feel loose, pin those down!

Voila! The coiled twists give this updo a unique pop.

3. Hair Bow

  1. Gather all of your hair into a pineapple at the top of your head–the higher the ponytail, the prettier the bow!
  2. Take some pieces of hair and wrap it around the ponytail to hide the hair tie.
  3. Split the ponytail in two sections and take some hair from the center of the part–this will serve as the center of your bow.
  4. With the ponytail separated into two, grab the first section and begin rolling the ends back but towards the center of the ponytail.
  5. Once you’ve reached the center, pin the roll with a few bobby pins to secure it in place.
  6. Do the same for the other side!
  7. Take that piece hanging from the ponytail and pull it back above the bow and bobby pin it right behind the bow! If you have pieces hanging, wrap them around the ponytail and pin it down, too! Give your edges a few spritzes of shine spray and smooth them down with a soft brush. I used an old tooth brush! This is my favorite of styles! Who doesn’t love a pretty bow during the holidays!
