castor oil for hair and beauty

One issue faced by millions of women across the world is hair loss. It is generally not an issue if it is mild. But, some people face excessive hair loss which can lead to baldness. The causes of hair loss can be varied. When it comes to your hair, it is better to rely on natural products alone. One such product is castor oil. Castor oil is often overlooked as a health and beauty treatment and is often only thought of as a remedy for constipation, but it has a long history of being used for many other healing and beauty enhancing treatments too. Castor oil is derived from the seed or bean of the castor plant. Castor oil may help eliminate warts, boils, menstrual congestion disorders, ringworm, and fungal and bacterial infections.

Castor oil contains vitamin E, minerals, proteins, antibacterial and anti-fungicidal properties. In addition to healing benefits, castor oil also contains anti-inflammatory properties, all of which are related to healthy hair growth.

For maximum benefit mix castor oil with another oil, e.g. jojoba, argan, castor or avocado oil.

Improves Circulation

Sufficient circulation in the scalp area helps stimulate blood flow to the hair follicles. When the roots of your hair are properly nourished, your hair strands will be stronger and more resilient, allowing them to grow longer without breaking. Castor oil on your scalp can help to increase circulation. In addition, castor oil has a strengthening effect on hair follicles and can stimulate hair growth in cases of alopecia, or hair loss.

Moisturizes Scalp

Use castor oil for hot oil treatments and scalp massages to stimulate hair growth and keep your hair soft and manageable. Leave the oil in your hair overnight, covered with a plastic cap to trap heat and enhance penetration. In the morning, wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo to remove all traces of castor oil, then style as usual.

Reduces Frizz, Adds Shine

Castor oil hair treatments were found to increase the luster of hair. This effect is caused by castor oil‘s ability to coat the hair shaft, sealing in moisture and creating a silkier surface. For optimum shine, use a hot oil treatment once per month or moisturizing treatments weekly.

Prevents Hair Loss

The antifungal and antibacterial properties in castor oil are useful in combating scalp infections. Infections and scalp disorders are major causes of hair loss.

Seals Moisture

Castor oil formulated for highly textured hair because it is known for its ability to seal moisture in the hair, combatting the natural dryness of these hair types. Apply it after moisturizing with a water-based product for a long-lasting seal.
