You’ve chosen the color. You’ve gathered all the tools you’ll need: gloves, hair painting brush, dye-safe bowl, and patience.

Now you’re ready to add a brand new bold, vivid shade to your already gorgeous mane of curls! Yes, Queen!

Now, you’re thinking twice: Do I really want to go through the hassle of dyeing my hair?

No matter if it’s Passion Pink, Royal Purple, or Light Cognac, dyeing your natural hair doesn’t have to be a painstaking chore. In fact, you don’t actually have to dye your own strands if you don’t want to! As you’ll see in the steps below, and the Bigen-sponsored video to follow, you can easily apply and wear a semi-permanent color dye treatment that is vivid, playful, and so completely you!

Follow these steps for a hassle-free at-home curl dyeing session:

Step 1 – Mix Bleach and Developer

With gloved hands, to avoid getting dye on your skin, mix bleach and developer in a bowl. Don’t forget to wear clothing that you’re not afraid to get dye on.

Step 2 – Apply to Clean Hair

It’s always a good idea to wash your curls 24 to 48 hours before you apply color to them. By washing so many hours prior, your scalp will produce its natural oils, helping the color pigments in the Bigen Vivid Shades dye bind to your curls more effectively.

Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to separate your curls into four to six large sections. Since curls like to spring up and go wild when sectioning them, use your trusty salon clips to keep them in place.

Next, apply the dye! As you’re working through each section of hair, it’s okay to make smaller sections to evenly apply the color. Work the hair dye completely into your curls with a hair dyeing brush and your fingers.

Bonus Tip: As you will see in the video below, you don’t have to use dye on your own curls. If you want color on your curls but don’t want to apply dye directly to strands, coloring curly hair extensions is a great way to add that extra burst of pop you’ve been wanting to achieve.

Step 3 – Repeat for a Lighter Color

Even if you’ve left the dye in your hair for as long as the treatment specifies (refer to your Bigen bottle’s instructions section”>, you may want a more vivid or lighter color for your curls. Simply repeat the steps of applying dye to clean curls, making sure that your curls are evenly saturated so that they pick up even more stunning color.

Coloring Fact: gentle semi-permanent color contains no ammonia or peroxide.
