Natural hair enthusiast and NaturallyCurly community member  Louis Tchetoskany is back with another DIY recipe. T his lemongrass and ylang ylang finishing serum adds shine and tames frizz. Want to incorporate oil rinsing in your regimen? Try this recipe at the end of your deep conditioning treatment or use this fragrant serum to seal in moisture after applying your leave-in conditioner.

The fractioned coconut oil will give you that silicone feeling, like most esterified oils do (of course without the inconvenient of cones). Coconut oil is a very light oil that will penetrate the hair shaft. Sunflower oil is full with ceramides that will help bond the cuticles and will improve light reflection. Avocado oil is a powerful anti-aging oil, full with vitamin E, and phytosterols. Finally, lemongrass and ylang ylang essential oils are great for dry, thirsty hair. If you don’t have fractioned coconut oil, you can add any other light oil like grapefruit oil.

What You Need

  • 25 ml coconut oil
  • 25 ml sunflower oil
  • 25 ml avocado oil
  • 25 ml fractioned coconut oil
  • 20 drops lemongrass
  • 10 drops ylang ylang

Blend all of the ingredients together and apply as a finisher when installing or unraveling your twists. You can also use it to scrunch out the crunch on your wash and go's.
