Did you know an apple a day could keep the product buildup, blemishes and sun spots away?
More specifically apple cider vinegar, which comes from pulverized apples. ACV (apple cider vinegar) has many topical beauty benefits because it is:
- anti-bacterial, and
Its main ingredient, as with any vinegar, is acetic acid, but it also boasts other acids, vitamins, mineral salts, and amino acids that have great benefits!
If you’re interested in adding it to your daily routine, make sure to look for an organic, raw apple cider vinegar—you can find it in the condiment aisle (and occasionally in the health supplement aisle) of your grocery store.
3 Ways to Use ACV
ACV Hair Rinse
This recipe is a natural alternative to shampoo—it will remove any product residue without stripping your hair of its natural oils. It’s also a great detangler, and it will leave your hair soft, smooth, and super shiny! Bonus: ACV helps to kill bacteria, so this recipe is especially great for those with dandruff issues.
- 1 part ACV
- 1 part water
Simply mix the ACV and water together and, while you’re in the shower, pour the mixture through your hair (or use a spray bottle). Massage it into your scalp and then let it sit in your hair for a few minutes before rinsing. There should be no need for conditioner once the rinse is done! The ACV will leave your hair feeling nice and silky.
ACV Facial Toner
As it turns out, ACV is also great for your complexion…it restores the natural pH balance of your skin. When your pH levels are in balance, your skin is at the perfect, happy medium between oily and dry!
Apple cider vinegar also helps to reduce redness and blemishes. Check out this recipe and see the results for yourself!
- 1 part ACV
- 2 parts water (or more, if you have particularly sensitive skin)
DirectionsSimply mix the two ingredients for a toner that will leave your skin refreshed and glowing! You can use a spray bottle, or you can dab the toner onto your skin with cotton. This toner works best right after you cleanse (either in the morning or at night). It will lock in the moisture that your skin needs.
This is a great tip for anyone with tropical spring break plans…simply add about a cup of ACV to your bath for relief from the achy discomfort of sunburn. Adding ACV to your bath will also lead to softer skin and can fade age spots.
