Carrots are delicious. High in Vitamins A, B1, B2,  B6, K, biotin, fiber, potassium and thiamine they are a nutritional powerhouse when eaten. But did you know carrots also benefit the hair when applied topically? Specifically, carrot oil. They are derived from the seeds of the carrot plant. It often is also referred to as carrot seed oil and the scent is described as rich and earthy.

How carrot oil benefits your beauty

  • It is gentle and contains antibacterial properties.
  • It adds moisture back to dry hair and skin.
  • It adds shine to dull hair for a healthier look.
  • It strengthens hair and prevents breakage over time. This is especially due to the beta-carotene and vitamins helping to repair the hair strands.
  • It stimulates hair growth and encourages dry scalp to create more sebum, the oil like substance naturally produced by the skin. This will moisturize the hair and scalp as well as promote overall hair health and shine.

How to use it

Giving yourself a scalp massage with carrot oil will allow the vitamins to seep into your scalp resulting in better blood circulation to the scalp leading to stronger hair growth. For best results, massage carrot oil into your scalp two or more times per week. For an enhanced result with the scalp massage, feel free to mix the carrot oil with other stimulating scalp oils such as rosemary, peppermint and lavender.

Carrot Rinse for Shiny Hair

Using carrot oil in a final shower rinse will leave your hair feeling super soft, super silky and shiny. You can try this once a week, every other week or as needed. The apple cider vinegar helps to clarify the hair and regulate the pH levels of the scalp thanks to the natural presence of AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids)

Directions

  1. Add three to five drops of carrot oil for every one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Use more based on hair's thickness and length.
  2. Mix the ingredients together, after washing your hair (shampoo and conditioner) pour the mixture over your hair as your final rinse.
  3. Let the mixture sit on your hair about five minutes before rinsing for maximum benefits. For even more shine, be sure to rinse with cool water.
