IMUS: That’s some nappy-headed hos there. I’m gonna tell you that now, man, that’s some — woo. And the girls from Tennessee, they all look cute, you know, so, like — kinda like — I don’t know.
McGUIRK: A Spike Lee thing.
…ROSENBERG: It was a tough watch. The more I look at Rutgers, they look exactly like the Toronto Raptors.
Don Imus has insulted many groups over the years, but NaturallyCurly.com is surprised to find curlies in his sights.
His April 4 comments denigrating the Rutgers women’s basketball team are appalling. Can anyone tell us what one’s hairstyle has to do with one’s ability to play basketball? Can anyone tell us why some people insist on using “nappy” as if it were an insult? It’s a hair texture, hairstyle, a choice. Get over it. And to further link kinky hair with the state of being a “ho”? Could he be any more insulting? Or more racist?
The texture of one’s hair is no reflection on one’s intelligence or one’s athleticism. It’s just hair.
As a resident of this great country, Imus has a right to speak as he wishes. It’s unfortunate he’s chosen to speak so abhorrently. His racist, misogynistic mind has cost him a two-week suspension. When will it cost him his livelihood?
