As the natural hair community has grown, so too as the music that supports and encourages it. If you’ve been down and out recently, waiting for the newest tune to turn whip your locs to, then press play on Harlem rapper Qu’ality’s most recent track “NA-TU-RAL.”

An ode to women everywhere with natural hair of any and all colors and textures, Qu’ality gives a shout out to the sweet smells of Carol’s Daughter’s products, dreads, head wraps, afro puffs and even those up-and-down moments after a big chop that eventually turn into full-blown confidence and hair love.

He also calls out those in the industry who sport their natural hair including Kendrick Lamar, Ericka Badu, India Arie, Jill Scott, Lauren Hill and Janelle Monae (no love for Solange?”>.

But the best part of the track comes down to Qu’ality’s understanding of the whole movement, that extensions are often for extra protection, that your arms get tired during long hair styling sessions, and that in the end, the women who work hard to maintain their natural hair in all of it’s health and glory are patient, strong, confident, and willing to do whatever it takes to be exactly who they are.

“The best thing about you is you don’t hide nothing about you.”
