Kapha hair is Earth Day hair!

Follow these tips to increase your overall hair health and growth from an Ayurvedic perspective. It is the 45th earth day which together is a 9 and stands for completion. So I will provide 9 tips for you.

Ayurveda is the ancient Indian science of what makes us alive. We all have all of the doshas or bio-energies present at birth, Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

One dosha will be dominant. You know you are more Kapha if you have thick hair that is also oily in nature. You may tend to do things in a slow steady way and prefer to watch than do. Movement will help your Kapha hair to grow. Kapha is all about cell growth and regeneration-Mother Earth qualities. Get out and take a walk, do some light cycling, martial arts, jog or even run to increase your body health and start a new cycle of hair health.  Kapha is ruled by the elements of earth and water. Activities near water will enhance your connection with the earth.

1. Treat your scalp

to a warm weekly massage with olive oil or sesame–known as the good oil–to circulate energy, loosen tight scalps, alleviate dryness and while purifying to help keep pores open. Warm oils have smaller molecules which will allow thicker oils to pass through dead skins cells easier. Felicidad Sugar Scrub exfoliate and co-wash with Bobeam Pamper Condish before the oil regime for best results. Do your entire head in small circular motion and use your finger pads/tips, never your nails.

2. Set a new regimen

and get into a routine to keep things balanced in your life and with your hair and body health.

3. De-clutter

for Earth Day and everyday.

4. Go somewhere

you have never been- as a Kapha you need more varied experiences. Do something you’ve never done – you’ve got to stay on the move to keep the flow & hair grow!

5. Take a long bath

and honor yourself.

6. Clean out

all of your old products–recycle, reduce, and reuse packages, etc.

7. Clean your hair tools

with boiling hot water or that shampoo that you finally let go of.

8. Increase your intake

of warming spices and essentials like cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus, juniper and marjoram. Use products and eat foods that have these ingredients and are yellow, orange and red naturally.

9. Steep a tea bag

of chamomile, hibiscus, rosemary, lavender or a combination of these herbs in olive oil or mustard oil just like you would make tea. Use this oil infusion as a hot oil treatment 30-60 minutes in the scalp. Rinse before your exfoliating co-wash with Obia Tea Tree Bar (this is not a traditional “shampoo””>.
