Hello, Curlies and welcome to the first edition of The Curl Current where I’ll be giving you a round up each month of all of the latest and greatest happenings in the world of natural hair!
Natural Care Workshop
This month, we’re kicking things off in Europe with Felicia Leatherwood’s Loving Your Hair with Natural Care Workshop, which is traveling overseas to London! On Saturday, August 13, UK curlies will have the opportunity to learn all about natural hair care from one of the best and most respected names in the textured hair community.
“I was inspired to take the workshop abroad because, after traveling all over the world, I noticed a lot of damaged hair overseas,” explained Felicia, natural hair specialty stylist and founder of the Loving Your Hair with Natural Care Workshop. “I wanted to be able to help women everywhere embrace their naturalness with ease!”
So far, the workshop has received an amazing response and the 200 attendees are in for an afternoon filled with not only in-depth hair education, but also the powerful love that only comes from a room full of natural hair. Attendees will also receive samples and demonstrations using products from Jane Carter Solution, Karen’s Body Beautiful, Komaza Care, Curlz, Koils By Nature, Viviscal, Huetiful and Kinky Curly.

Haute Hair Affair
Back across the pond in New York, Karen’s Body Beautiful will be hosting an Haute Hair Affair on Saturday, August 27th. The Haute Hair Affair is part celebration for Karen’s 10-year anniversary of wearing natural hair, and part the culmination of the Haute Hair Contest.
The Haute Hair Contest — which requires contestants to submit a 90-second video or an essay about why their hair is haute — ends today, Friday, August 5th. S,o be sure to enter because there are some seriously fabulous prizes!
The grand prize winner will win an all-expenses paid trip to NYC to attend the Haute Hair Affair and receive haute VIP treatment all weekend! Kim Coles’ Grow Out Challenge
Three thousand miles westward, in the land of swimming pools and movie stars, Kim Coles, CurlyNikki, and Jessicurl are hosting the Grow-Out Challenge Celebration on Saturday, August 13th from 5 to 9 p.m.
The Kim Coles’ Grow Out Challenge is bringing almost 1,000 bloggers together to share their progress, tips and inspiration as they grow out their processed hair and embrace their natural hair texture.
One lucky winner — Lynn W. — was selected from the bunch and will be flown out to Los Angeles for the event, where she’ll hobnob with West Coast naturals, Kim Coles, CurlyNikki, Jess McGuinty of Jessicurl, and the rest of the NaturallyCurly posse.
