My first job was in a Coldstone Creamery. I quit after a service really sucks, people don't really have any respect for their servers. And Coldstone is even more demeaning in that they make you sing for tips.

My first "real" job, one that I actually stuck with, was secretarial work in a plastics factory.

If I were to get a job to put on a college app., though, I might do something a little bit more interesting, creative, or personal. Working at animal shelters, community organizing, etc. These were things I really wanted to do as a teen, and things that really seem to impress colleges...but they're unpaid, and I always needed the cash.

But I don't mean that a college would look down on a kid who worked at a grocery store or anything. I think it still "counts," just in a different way.
