Have you had any coloring done in your hair in the last few months? I suggest that because I've repeatedly seen people who have had color done and don't factor that in when figuring any "sudden" dryness of their hair. But if not, then the gel is what may have dried your hair, together with the drier heated air which is constantly sucking moisture out of your hair (now that winter is officially here and it must be getting even colder...) and your canopy may be having trouble conserving moisture. A couple of protein-free DTs should help rehydrate it in no time, also it would be great help to carry a travel size spray bottle with distilled water with a teaspoon of CO diluted in it to refresh your hair throughout the day.
