My daughter's hair is 4a, really thick and dense, yet extremely fine. And l-o-o-ng. Normal pigtails on her stop at her neck....but if you take her hair loose and stretch it, it's waist-length.

I've found out the following about her hair:

1) The wrong stuff tends to "sit" on her hair and cause greasy buildup. Even petrolatum- and mineral oil-free products.

2) The smaller the pigtails/twists/cornrows, the more unmanageable her hair will be when taken down.

3) Like others have said, that "snap-crackle-pop" if handled too roughly. Even though her hair is so thick, care must still be taken to handle it. The length makes it even more challenging.
