Curious about the styling techniques of fellow wavies....

Do you:

rake in product, scrunch, or comb though?

apply product to wet or damp hair?

Just curious. I apply mine to fairly wet hair, but I've been experimenting lately with blotting a lot of the water out first and it seems to be working out okay. My waves don't seem to get weighed down by the water weight, and then I don't have to plop either. Works if I have to get out of the house in a hurry.

My goal is to use less product so I don't feel like I have to wash as much. Also, I'm always looking to quicken, shorten and simplify.

It depends on the day.

Today, I raked and then scrunched in some QC to very wet hair, let it sit for a bit, then scrunched out the excess water and let it air dry the rest of the way.

Sometimes, I apply a couple products, curl enhancer and a gel, then blot and blow dry.

Sometimes, I throw in a smasters and add kcc and blow dry on high.

Depends on my mood.

I mostly scrunch in products, but I have used the supersoaker method frequently, combing in a curl creme, soaking, then applying gel.

I don't think I'm a fan of raking.
2c/3a with 2b underlayer. Fine, porous. Loves protein. But not hydrolized wheat protein. Yuck.

I always scrunch. If I comb or rake, my waves get pulled out. Sometimes on 2nd day hair I can rake then scrunch on semi-damp hair, but if my hair is wet? Forget it - it'll be a weird mess.

I also apply product to damp hair, mostly. I scrunch out extra water with my hands, then with a T-shirt (just enough so it's not dripping water). I apply products, scrunch a little more with a T-shirt, and plop, air dry, diffuse, or a combo of the three.
