Does 2nd Day Hair exist?
Hello all! I'm brand new to the forum and after years and years of straightening, curling with a curling iron, etc., I'm trying to finally embrace my curls and get them back to their full potential!

Currently, I'm using Suave Naturals as a co-wash, a sulfate-free 'poo once a week, a little KKKT as a rinse-out and a little as a leave-in, and LALSG. Then I diffuse! I'm really liking how it looks having just started this and I feel like my hair is already getting healthier!

However! I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get second day hair! I've tried pineappling but my hair still needs to be brushed the next morning which kills my curls. I tried braiding to avoid tangles, but that kills my curls too. I tried the washcloth method that I read on the boards (where you use a washcloth to rewet hair and scrunch some more product in), but that gave me frizzy half-wet hair and when I tried scrunching product in it was sticky and gross.

Hopefully, I'm missing a key step here since I'm new to all this! But as of now, I can't figure out anything beyond completely rewetting my hair in the morning and doing everything over.

Does anyone have methods, techniques, products, etc. that will help me get nice 2nd day hair?

I don't think it least not for me:( I think you need to have long hair an it needs to have tight curls. My hair generally doesn't even look good by the end of the day...let aline the next morning! hahaha

Nope. Me neither. I actually have no desire for it anyway. I'd rather CO & "reset" the curls everyday anywho.

Maybe try wetting your hair slightly right before pineapple-ing? That's the only way I can get second day hair, is to wet my hands and run them over my ponytail once I have put it up in the pineapple...then I put a bit of gel on it, and in the morning my hair is still hair is all S's but the ends are corkscrew curls...and, if my hair doesn't co-operate, I just use a wide-toothed pick comb on it and then wear it wavy instead of curly for day 2.

It might work for you, can't hurt to try? Is your hair long? if so you can braid it and then wear a sleep cap made of satin, maybe?

I think it depends. With second-day hair, my waves aren't as defined and polished as they are the first day but it doesn't bother me at all. I also don't mid if my hair isn't perfect. I tend to like my hair when it's a bit messy and tad on the frizzy/fluffy side so I'm a fan of second-day hair that's not perfect.

I think it depends a lot on your hair's texture. I usually only wash once a week, and my hair looks better on day 3 or longer than day 1. My hair is coarse. There are a lot of fine haired wavies and even curlies who need to wash every day.

I get second day hair with the washcloth method.
