Trying to figure it out

My hair is 2b, medium texture and thick. I have been straightening it for 6 months and have finally decided to embrace my waviness. I did the CG for the first time last night and my waves were great in the morning but fell by noon and looks almost straight. How long does it usually take for my hair to "unlearn" being straight?

This is what I am using
CO wash~Suave Coconut
Rinse CO~Garnier Fortifiying
Leave-in~Garnier Sleek and Shine
Gel~Aussie Freeze

Am I using too much conditioner?

I am planning on adding a curl activator to my regime. Any help would be appreciated!

I'd suggest that for your next step you find out your hair's properties and look for someone with hair like yours in this link and steal their ideas.
There is help in the newbies please read section. Also

Since you have been straitening, you may need to do a protein treatment. This helps many people's curls perk up.
Also, try a hard hold gel. Some to try are LA Looks sports gel, biosilk rock hard gel and chi.
Try plopping (plopping video)
pixie curl method
Scrunching products into the hair.
Good Luck (a blog to help new wavies, go to the how do I get started page)
2a ( 2bFi (Fia), very fine, thin, low/normal elasticity, porous, CG, doesn't get weighed down
Cowash: Tresemme naturals
Rinse out/leave in: Renpure Organics (red)
Curl enhancer: FSG
Gel: BRHG, Salon care aloe, Ecostyler Krystal (normal dews)
PT: ION effective care, IAgirl's gelatin PT
Low Poo: renpure (red), Ion swimmers
I second everything said above. When I first started I perused the boards and found people that I thought may have similar hair properties. My hair took about a month to perk up and become more wavy. I also noticed a huge difference when I started using protein.
