I went CG a little over two weeks ago and, until this weekend, had been using the same routine every day. This past weekend, I made the mistake of trying a couple new things on the same day. I ended up with straw-like hair that was SO easily tangled, and I'm trying to figure out whether I am protein sensitive or what else could have happened.

One change I made was from a protein-free conditioner to Nature's Gate Tea Tree conditioner for my rinse-out/leave-in, which has hydrolyzed soy protein, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, and hops extract.

Before this weekend, I had been doing the "stretch test" on shed hairs in the shower. My hair stretched nicely and bounced back well. I did the stretch test on Saturday, the first day with my straw-hair, and it didn't really seem any different. Does this mean it wasn't a protein issue? Would my hair instantly act differently on the stretch test, or does it take a long time to lose elasticity, despite the strawlike, dry feel?

Another change was a switch to Shea Moisture curl enhancing smoothie, which has coconut oil and aloe (both new ingredients for me). I also did a BS and ACV rinse for the first time, both diluted 1 tbsp to 1 cup water. So… protein, aloe, or ACV causing the issue? The world may never know!! (but seriously… rookie mistake, trying so many new things in one day).
