I also (devacurl) wash and style at night but never sleep on wet hair. I twist super wet hair upside-down into ten sections. Scrunch in gel and then never touch or manipulate my hair with hands after this. Squeeze water out with tshirt. Then plop for ten minutes and then diffuse or air dry. Once completely completely dry, I put my hair in a bun (even if crunchy from gel) on top of my head and sleep. Then I shake it out in the morning and put a tiny amount of pomade on around scalp for root lift. I get a lot of bounce.
