For me personally the key to second day and occasionally third day hair is do do the pineapple method at night. Wrapping my hair helps a lot and when I get up all I have to do is kind of fluff out my hair and shake my head around to get my curls to separate and unflatten. When I use water alone to refresh it does nothing my dampen my hair without making my curls look any better. If I need to reform some of my curls I use the Shea Moistures curl enhancing smoothie and then kind of twist the curl around my finger for a bit.

I agree with Ericachristina, I get up to 4th day hair. and I do the finger twirl/smooth conditioner on each curl(or bunch of curls) to smooth down frizz, just water does nothing to my hair and I cant scrunch in products on 2nd day hair-results in more frizzes
