It's literally the gelatin that you would find on your supermarket shelf I buy the box of sachets and use one full sachet at a time. As for how often, some people like to do it once a month, but it's trial and error, I'm going to try using it every 2 weeks. If you overload on protein and it goes hard and dry, it should feel hard even when wet supposedly so just follow it up with a deep conditioning to combat that.
