Any idea on how to get curls to stick?

My hair is a mix of literally every kind of curl. Okay, not really. It's literally like a mix of curls from 2c to 3a. This is my own fault, from heat damage and dying. I've actually left my hair alone for quite a while, straightening it maybe once every 4 or 5 months, and not dying it.

However, I recently got a 1/2 in curling iron to curl some of the frizzy 2c/kind of straight strands of hair. But my hair won't hold the curl! Maybe it's because I live in the South and the humidity/dew points are off the chart? I need a product, or any sort of tip, that will help make my hair not frizzy, and help keep the curl.
i would recommend the usual -- deep conditioning treatments, protein treatments, haircut.
then use a moisturizing leave in, followed by a gel. my hair loves cj aloe fix gel in high dew points! also, cj pattern pusha. lalsg...... i think the key is the dts, pts, and haircut.

Every time you heat style you damage your hair further, there comes a point where the core protein structure is too damaged to curl anymore, the only thing you can do then is cut off the damage. You can do irreparable damage in just one session if you style on even slightly damp hair or use too high temperatures.

Having said that the difference between 2c and 3a is hardly huge, many curlies have a mix of curl patterns. To prevent frizziness condition, condition, condition. Select your products based on their ingredients, your hair properties and the dew points. Good ingredients for damaged or porous hair include coconut oil, hydrolysed protein, ceramides and panthenol.
