Aloe vera juice/gel = cure for itchy scalp??

I have always had an itchy scalp. I have to keep my scalp moisturized on a frequent basis, at least twice a week or more. Even when I was relaxed it was a problem.

Since I've been natural, I keep a better track on product ingredients. I've noticed when I started using Kimmaytube's leave in recipe, my scalp doesn't itch. Now, since I've been using Oyin's Hair Dew as a leave in, my scalp doesn't itch either. I don't have to oil it either. One of the common ingredients in both leave in formulas is aloe vera.

I've read that aloe restores the pH of a product back to where it needs to be, around 4.5. So, I'm wondering is this the cure for dry, itchy scalp? Adding aloe gel/juice to scalp products? Or is the pH balancing thing what really helps? Anyone had similar results?

I have dry, itchy scalp from time to time. I do herbal ACV rinses to combat this. I would say that aloe vera gel is good for scalp issues based on the info in this article: THE NATURAL HAVEN: Reader favourite : Aloe Vera. I'm glad you posted about this--it reminded me to mix up an aloe vera-based spritz for my scalp.

I don't oil my scalp. I don't see the need to. I find that my scalp is the most itchy when it hasn't been cleansed in a couple of days. Adding oil would make my scalp more dirty and excaserbate the problem. Here is some info on scalp oiling: THE NATURAL HAVEN: Oiling the Scalp - is it necessary?
