Got it in my head today to just wash my hair, condition, and see where my shrinkage is happening... and get a feel for the state of my hair with my current length. I didn't tie it down too much (just parted it down the middle and washed/conditioned each side). I detangled with the tangle teezer as quickly as possible (hopefully not too much matting under there). and afterwards, took down each side and watched the shrinkage and poofing, as well as check my patterns. First pic is where I started, second is just washed/loaded with leave-in and tied on either side. Third is close up pic of one side, as is the fourth. The last is my sad attempt to keep it somewhat stretched and in one direction, but I ended up taking out the hair tie and pulling it gently back anyways.

What do you think?

My hair was still really wet, is still now (6 hours later), but here is a pic I took shortly before putting in a head band and pulling it back.

The shrinkage wasn't bad at all, up front, but I really don't know what's going on in the back!

Keeping hair stretched and in protective styles
I'm a stan for #naturalhair
What keeps me stretched is a loose, high bun, sealed with jojoba oil. Unfortunately, it also takes forever to dry.

I like your idea too though... I might try that, though I despise ponytail "bumps." But your hair looks fantastic
